Hello, I was wondering if i could have some advice on how to carrying out my next few days of studying.

I’m taking FAR on monday, and through ninja mcq I still have roughly 150 questions I haven’t answered correctly. I can definitely go through those questions in the next day or so but for the sake of time I was wondering if it was best to just review the mcq randomly (as in click ‘MCQ”) or try to learn those extra 150 questions before my exam?

In terms of my weak spots I know I definitely need to sharpen my JE skills and filling out a statement of cash flows using both the indirect or direct method, both topics which probably wont be covered much if I just practice MCQ without practicing SIMS.

I’ve also realized that I’ve been burning myself out recently.. sitting in front of the computer for about 8 hours a day these past few days, so I’m worried about frying myself out before the exam LOL

    Thanks for your input everyone!

Sounds like you have put the work in if you got to just 150 not answered correctly. Definitely spend some time on journal entries in general. This will help you through the SIMS. You could switch it up and just do some weak area text reading if you are burnt out on MCQ. Also, I had several hours the morning of my exam and just watched the BLITZ videos.. They are really good refreshers and do not burn you out. Good luck.

    Hi rlee45!!

I'm in a similar situation. I take FAR on Saturday, 2/27!! Sort of freaking out! But I've studied a lot so I should be ready (or as ready as you can ever really feel taking the CPA exam). I took off this entire week to study.. The beginning part of the week I spent going back through my book and brushing up on concepts to make sure I completely understood… Then I just started hammering out MCQs. I reset my stats before this because my trending score was sort of skewed upward because of the way I was originally going through the questions. I do them in sets of 30 because the testlets on the exam have 30 questions each. I also make sure I select “New Questions” so I'm making sure I hit as many as possible as the clock winds down on me and my exam approaches. Since the reset, I'm trending between 74-79% (so I'm hoping this is a good sign!)

I did start reviewing some SIMs tonight too. Not sure if you know this (I didn't until yesterday), but under the “helpful links” section when you first log into Ninja, there's a link to a list of the topics for all the SIMs. Which has been really great because I can mainly focus on the ones that I have issues with.

Sorry my post was so long, but I hope this helps!! Good luck to you on Monday!!!! Godspeed!!

    1) don't sit and study for 8 hours at a time. Your body and mind cannot handle that kind of work at once and you will end up forgetting most of what you're studying. When I studied, I did 2 hours when I woke up, about an hour around lunch time, 2 in the evening/around dinner, and 1 before I went to bed. breaking it down makes it so much better on yourself. dont try to cram, there's too much material.

    2) Look at your weak spots, but dont waste your time on stuff that isnt likely to be a huge part of the test. I'd say to do the MCs. As many as you can, but dont just do them and go on to the next one, learn why you missed it/got it right. I used this way a lot and it worked.

    3) practice the sims and get familiar with the literature that you'll be provided. no joke, on one of my FAR sims, I found pretty much an identical example in the literature and got it right. i got a 75 on FAR so it was likely the difference between Pass/Fail.

all in all, it's hard, but manageable. dont overstudy, eat right, and get sleep. those 3 things are just as important as the material is.

@acollins423, wow you just helped me a lot by showing me those helpful links LOL, Thank you!! Yeah my trending is so weird.. it's at an 86%, but my average is at a 65% so yeah.. hopefully my trending pulls through for the exam on monday. Good luck on Saturday!

@superhenderson13, yeah I get what you're saying, I guess I'm just overreacting right now, and trying to cram as much as I can since my exam is in a few days. Thanks for the advice! Recently I've felt like a potato sitting in front of the computer all day.. haha

@kemi22 I literally did that and I was making a list of them as I found them. Boy did I feel like a goober when I saw there was a link to the entire list.

Anyways, since I take FAR tomorrow at 12:30, I took the practice exam today. I got a 70%. I feel pretty good about it because I've heard that most people score way higher on the actual exam than they do on the practice exam. I wrote down a few topics I missed during the practice test so I can review those tonight. But I don't want to do too much and wear myself out for tomorrow. Ugh. Any advice?

@Acollins423, just read all your own notes, flashcards, and mnemonic to refresh your memory from now till you go to bed tonight. Answering MCQs at this point can only cause panic.

You've got to be kidding me. Murphy's Law in full effect when I took my exam! I felt great after the MC.. Took a break before I started the sims. Don't you know that the ONE area I told my friend this morning I was worried about I had TWO SIMS ON THAT. Are you kidding?! I'm so angry right now and feel like I failed..

@acollins423, wow that sucks to hear! But I'm sure you did fine, when I took reg, I killed the MCQ, I finished all three testlets in 45 minutes, then I got killed with the SIMS.. I spent 2 hours on my SIMS and felt like I definitely bombed it, but I passed with an 83!
