    hello

I just took AUD yesterday.. harder than my second try. I don’t even know how I managed to finish the test it was brain draining SIMS though I am still positive about it.

Anyway I desperately need advice on how to tackle FAR. This will be my first try. I started watching videos and answering MCQs here and there while I was studying AUD I am now 60% of the lectures(Roger) but it seems like I forgot everything already. I am scheduled to sit on March 10. I have my full time job 9-6, I tried to study at least 3hrs a day but I’m having a hard time to retain the topic. Thank you

@cherianazia there are some great tips on Far re-take. take a look. I am taking Far a few days before you and am doing a few things different so I can feel better about study and taking the test.

I am not too familiar with Roger but you just have to be consistent. What is the plan that Roger outlines in the review course? I would stick to that. Make sure to take notes and read the book, at least on areas you are not sure on. If Roger has SIMS, I would leave them for last, but don't ignore them-I lived in SIMS and journal entries toward the end of studying for my re-take which was today. Don't know if it helped for sure, but I felt much more confident than last time.

@anyatver thank you for your response & tips. I will finish listening and watching videos and try to read the book.. which is my weakness. I'm curious, are MCQs mostly problems to solve or there are theories as well?

MCQ is both conceptual and mathematical. You can always use the book as a supplement to MCQ, in other words, some topics you will know well and some not so well, that's when the book comes in handy to fill in the gaps…

Hit gov't and NFP hard. Spend time, like real time, looking at the FASB codification. You can shave soooo much time off your overall exam if you can speed through MCQs and know what you're doing on your research question.

Also, don't spend a ton of time on MCQs. If you KNOW you're going to guess then forget it. Guess your best, flag the question, and come back after you finish to see if some of the other questions helped you out. You should NOT waste valuable time racking your brain on an MCQ. If you score worse on MCQ to cut time then be glad because you'll have more time for SIMs which is where people get crusshhhheeed!

Good luck! Just keep studying. Worst case scenario is you don't pass and you'll take it again. It sucks but it's really not that bad. Study your hardest and try your best. You'll have no regrets if you do that.

@cherianazia I'm in a similar situation. I'm scheduled to take FAR March 7th, my BEC expires March 8th, ANNNNNND I get my REG score March 8th. I'm really stressing right now as I only went through half the material for REG, so I really don't know if I'll pass. Also, I only went through half the material when I took FAR the first time in December and got a 64. I don't know if 2 1/2 weeks is enough time to recap on the material I studied previously and learn the 2nd half of the material. I just quit my job a couple weeks ago, so since I don't work, maybe it will be possible???? Can someone give me advice as well? Would I just be better off taking it in April, or should I just give it my best shot and try?

I'm currently using GLEIM. I have to refresh my memory on 14 out of the 20 Study Units, and learn 6 Study Units from scratch. I don't want to re-read the 14 chapters I previously did, since I don't have a lot of time. I think with doing enough MCQ's and reading the answer explanations, that should be sufficient? But I do plan on reading those 6 chapters I didn't bother studying last time and completing the Study Units in GLEIM.

@Will thank you for your advice. I have not start studying gov't and NFP yet but I will this week. My approach is to watch video and try to do MCQs and make few notes since I don't have enough time to take down lots of notes. May I know the link to practice the FASB codification? Roger has it but I have to register.

@loveandbelove goodluck to us, I really would like to get it done on Mar 10 while waiting on the result for AUD. Whatever the results maybe I still have the next quarter but I don't know how to do it with this very little time I have. Sounds like they're testing gov't heavily which I don't have any clue yet 🙁

@loveandbeloved – tough question. I'd go for it given your BEC expiration. You have just over two full weeks and no job to tie you down? You can eat, sleep, and breathe FAR in your own boot camp. I'd get through the material you didn't cover previously, then go over the material that changed this quarter, then back through the rest. Best case, you're done! Worst case, you're out some money but you'll have both REG and FAR scores back within the next month and then you can plan what to tackle in what order during Q2.

@cherianazia – any chance of taking vacation time (if you have that option) to study? With your BEC expiring next quarter, it might be worth it if it helps you pass FAR in Q1.

Don't even expect to pass; no need for that fake drama and pressure.

My motto is simply to know more than what I knew the last time. Just keep adding to what you already know. Eventually your knowledge will reach critical mass. 🙂

I weenied out and rescheduled for April. I thought to myself to give myself the best chance to pass. I realize this is NOT a competition and yes I want to get this over with, but I don't plan on taking FAR again or taking the test for general purpose – money is limited. So Do what you have to to pass but we do know that we must study.
