Is anyone taking FAR next week? My exam is on the 15th. After my first try I thought to myself that I wasn’t so terrified to take it, but now I’m super nervous. What’s your plan for the remainder of the week?

I posted mine in the power weekend thread, but it’s basically to re-read book/notes as needed, redo Becker questions and do some Wily Questions. Review IFRS and NINJA notes next week. Also have to review some smaller arear in Ch.10.

    Anyone else freaking out???

You haven't seen those topics? You mean in the SIMS or MCQs?

There is a SIM in Ch2 Becker (it's the 2nd tab) requiring JEs that are needed to go from cash to accrual. Interesingly enough I don't think they cover it in the book much. I have the 2012 version of Becker and there is only 1 SIM (with 7 tabs) for Chapter 2.

memmy you use Becker as well right? Have you seen any expanded discussion on cash to accrual? I read the whole thing front to back so I don't think I missed it.

I have seen those topics all too frequently. What I mean is that in WTB, those are the only topics where there are questions left that I have not seen and therfore my 30 question testlet drills only quiz me on those topics. So I am getting a heavy dose of them right now and can't seem to get more than 23 out of 30 correct (76%). But they are good things to get drilled in b/c they are challenging concepts and I'm sure they will represent a meaningful portion of the exam.

@Tina- no I haven't been able to find one. I'll let you know if I find something good on the web or elsewhere. Thanks for the SIM info, I'll check that out. I definitely have a *feeling* I may see that on the exam.

@jgrfan1- oh ok, that's good. they're definitely important.

Checking in. Review is going ok, I'm actually on my favorite part of FAR (of the harder chapters) leases + bonds 🙂 Feel like I've got a good handle on these but with my luck I won't get this on the exam.

How much time are you guys allocating to hedges and options (FAR takers)? It's a small area in Ch. 10 in Becker.

Not too much. Understand the concepts and that the effective portion goes to OCI (PUFER). I feel like it was heavily tested in BEC, so just the concepts should be in FAR.

Thanks memmy. I went thorough the material once took some notes and did the questions. Hopefully that should do it.

I'm kinda freaking out. I'm only halfway through F-7…I haven't started major amounts of MCQs or any SIMS yet.

@tina- how are you feeling for your exam?

I feel like I've studied a lot but things are getting mixed up in my head. For the nth time, I just feel really exhaused. I don't mind studying and reviewing, I just don't feel in good shape. Wish I had more energy.

Going to focus on doing what I'm doing which is reading my notes and redoing mcqs. Hoping to finish all this by end of day tomorrow. Tuesday I'm going to re-read some of my notes (which are like ninja notes on steroids), read NINJA notes (I don't want to lose sight of the big picture) and review IFRS v GAAP comparison. I have to do more SIMs (haven't done that many). Maybe a few each day.

Then just hope for a good test and cross my fingers.

memmy, start mixing in mcqs asap, 20 here and there and it adds up.

I agree, I really need to. I just keep getting overwhelmed when I start them…and discouraged.

Don't worry, you're ready. SIMS are definitely good to go over too.

I don't feel ready. My brain is a mush and I don't do everything I plan for the day. Barely finishing Ch.8, was going to do 9 also today but don't think it's going to happen. Fresh start tomorrow.
