    Hi Ninjas
I am trying to understand the new format of FAR ,I am not buying new study materials ( except Roger’s book ) .Please share your understanding about new FAR exam.
I have read exam outlines ,it is insisting on application rather than memorization.Earlier memorization was 50% of MCQ now it would be 10%.I have also gone through new test at AICPA site and observed that they are insisting on calculations.I expect the longer or wordier questions and not more than 6-7 questions of type “which fund will have cash flow” .
No wonder they are reducing the number of MCQ to 66 and as per my experience on Q1 , 90 questions were too much if get 90% applications. So I am doing more calculations and application of formulas.I also don’t expect to notice ( differences may exist ) much difference between testlet one and testlet 2 of MCQ .I also expect the SIM will get Medium to harder just the way MCQ testlets used to be.

Honestly think the best way to study is a little different then old way but not much. Simply youtube verbatim from the CPA Exam blueprints. For the analysis and application (i.e. calculation MCQ and SIMS) know every single JE and know the financial statements down cold. The NINJA MCQ in my opinion are tougher than actual exam. My exam in March was very conceptual during some testlets. NINJA MCQ trending score compared to actual exam score is a 10% difference (i.e. if you trend 65% you would get 75% on exam). I just wish NINJA replaced the CSO’s with the new CPA Exam Blueprints.
