So I have one exam left. I took FAR in November and got a 73 🙁 so i’m trying to go through the material again and I don’t know if its just because of the holiday or what but I feel like I lost all motivation to study. I’m still studying almost everyday but I feel like my brain has shut down. Has this happened to anyone and what to do to get that motivation back. Audit expires in June and i’m not letting me get to the point of potentially losing a section.

    REG - 63,74,70,81!!!
    FAR - 44,73, 81!!!!
    AUD - 51,81!
    BEC - 73,77!!

3 years later and I'm officially done. Never give up no matter what!

It happened to me when I failed REG (it was my last test too) and I had to retake it. I kicked myself daily for the fact that I could have been done with the entire test 4 months prior to when I actually finished. You just have to use that feeling of disappointment to push yourself through. You don't want to take it a third time. It's not easy to bring yourself back into the study habit, but you just have to do it.

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

    Michael-

I'm sorry I cannot offer you any advice in exchange for asking you how you managed to improve AND PASS your REG scores? I've failed REG with 23, 60, 61, and a 58…..I made a post about it earlier and everyone offered really good advice that's got me thinking…but I really gotta know if this is even worth pursuing anymore?

I have no idea how to proceed. I have becker and ninja……I m in my 1st year at a big 4 right now in terms of how much time I can actually devote to studying..

Hoping to hear back from you! thx so much!

Michael – I am in the exact same boat as you. Failed far in Nov with a 72. Very cruel. Finally committed to a retest date of 1/31. Barely started studying because I'm just so over this whole process. Plus I put 110% into the first test. However, if I fail FAR again, I lose reg. So that is my motivation! I printed out all my passing scores and have them hanging on my wall above where I study as a remind that I only have 1 left!! ONE!!! Let's give it all we have!!!

mikiluv – did you study reg when you got your scores of 23 and in the 60s? Reg is a difficult exam, especially if you don't have tax experience. Becker and Ninja should be enough to pass. Do you have the ninja audio AND mcqs? I recommend both! I used to work at Big4. My advice is take your computer to a quiet area during lunch and get an hour in during the day. Do you work late? Try and get an hour in the morning. Also, try and get 2 hours at night if work permits. If not, then weekends will have to be designated for studying only, nothing else. It's a major sacrifice but I hear it's worth it 🙂

If you find the answer let me know. I cannot for the life of me start studying for BEC. I kind of just poke at it. I guess we just have to remember what the consequences will be if we don't put our all into it. Have you scheduled your exam yet? Maybe that's what we need to kick our asses into gear, to have a deadline….

Thank you for the heads up!

Edit: Went in to schedule…there were almost no dates left. If I could buy you a beer (or probably tea in our case) I would.

I was in the same situation last testing window. I had failed FAR (my last section) and was in danger of losing AUD if I didn't pass FAR on my second try.

Seeing that failing FAR grade woke me up. I was NOT going to let the blood, sweat and tears I shed passing the other 3 sections go down the tubes.

I studied my ASS off and retook it. I passed. GREATEST FEELING IN THE WORLD TO BE DONE AND HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!

Suck it up and think how awful you will feel if you fail FAR again. You're almost there. You have to force yourself like I did.

Yes. I no longer dream of FAR anymore.

However, anxiety has always been a problem with me. I just found something new to focus on now. Ugh…

But I do feel A LOT better after passing.

How's FAR? Your retake is January 31st?

Rocky – its good to hear from you! I'm glad you're still remembering us who are still trying to pass! I just scheduled the 31st today, I had been stalking the prometric website for weeks for that date so I'm happy I finally got it! I refuse to lose reg, the same way you refused to lose audit! I think after the new year I will be 100% committed!! A full month should be enough for a retake I think =)

I agree. I think you should have plenty of time. Focus on your weak areas but don't ignore your strengths either. What are you weak in?

My first and second FAR exams were completely different and focused on different areas. You really need to have a good grasp on everything, unfortunately…

    @Determined

I have to unfortunately meet the Colorado rules change deadline by July 1 so it gives me two shots at BEC. But thanks to you I have my test scheduled and now I get to start kicking ass and taking names!
