    Hi all,

I am taking FAR next week and I am only half way through the material (Becker, I am in FAR 5 now). I don’t think I will be able to cover all he material, so any suggestion about what topics I should focus on before the exam

    Thank you,

If you are only half way through I would push the exam back, unless you plan on studying full time in the next week or so….

It's been awhile since FAR, what are the other chapters covering? I know Gov is pretty late in the book so I would make that a top priority. If you haven't studied leases, bonds, consolidations, goodwill, and impairment tests definitely go over those. I would stop watching the lectures and focus solely on MCQs. If you get a question wrong read the explanation and if that doesn't help read the book.

I can't push it back since the 3rd window closes in Sep 3rd which is my exam day.I will be studying full time for the next week.

@Jumah – Does your NTS expire after Sept 3rd? Can you push your test back to early October? The title of your post is “FAR- most important topics”. The old saying is “FAR is a mile wide and an inch deep”. Everything in that book can and will be tested to some extent. So the odds are against you when attempting FAR without reviewing half of the material. I'm not trying to discourage you at all so please don't misunderstand. My advice is – after your test continue the Becker course and be prepared to retake in early October. If you find out you passed on September 22nd, good job and be sure to post your story on here, I'm sure many others will be interested in how you did it.

@jumah I was in the exact same situation as you a week ago where I had the exam scheduled for the first week of Sep and was only halfway through the material. I work full-time and knew there's no way I can get through heavy topics like leases, pension benefits, income taxes, govt and NFP accounting in 3 weeks time. I ended up rescheduling mine to the first week of October. If your NTS doesn't expire, I'd highly recommend pushing it back. Even if you have a whole week to study full-time, these topics are going to take you longer and you want to make sure to leave a week (preferably more) for review as well. Hope this helps!

If you have the money to retake go for it this quarter. You never know, could end up getting lucky!
