Jinjuujii it sounds like you aren't fully understanding the material. If you are finding a particular concept difficult to understand and/or retain you need to take a different approach. If you're hammering out the MCQs and finding that's not working then change things up. For the questions and concepts I had a difficult time understanding I came here to the forum and asked if someone else could put it in different words for me. Hearing other people explain their understanding was monumental in getting me past many roadblocks.

    Hi.

Thanks for the input. My study process is this: ive started FAR theee weeks ago and since then, ive been reading cpaexcel and then doing the ninja mcq. Certain questions i dont get, i look at youtube for explanation. I like to think that i am learning but there are so many materials that i am not retaining much information…

My test is in feb. And im worried that wont have enough time to learn all the information. Im scoring on average 40% on the ninja mcq and thats below failing. I wonder if i am too dumb for this … 🙁

Jinjuuii….never ever think that you are too dumb! This test is a test of will power and persistence. Some things you will not understand the first time around. Give yourself time. Study through everything in the book from beginning to end and then start over and do it again focusing the second time on the things that you didn't get the first time through. At the end of the second time, start focusing more intensively on the concepts you didn't understand the first and second time while still doing concept test on the things you did get so that you don't forget. Just stay focused, remain positive, and you will overcome this hurdle. Dont try to get it all in one shot…. some things just take more time than others.

I am having a hard time as well! I currently use RogerCPA and just finished up chapter 5. I went through the BS,IS,Statement of CS etc. Also learned what are marketable securities, financial instruments, deriviatives etc. I am sitting here thinking, do I really understand all this? I can go over a summary of what everything means but as for taking multiple choice? I am not sure, I haven't even been studying multiple choice because I wanted to get through the book before so. However this is why I am coming here.

Should I go over MCQ after I finished the materials?

My goal was to get through the material by the 20th of this month, I have 20 more chapters to go in FAR so that may be pushing it. Then do the NINJA Notes while taking MCQ until Feb 13th to take my test. Thoughts?

I am struggling myself so I can't comment on your study method. I think study success depends on the individual. One can go through the whole text then do the MCQs while other do the MCQs while they go through the text. I don't think there is a wrong or right way to study?

However, for me, I think the factor that determine your understanding is the MCQs. I am sure if you understand the materials, with depth, you would not have any problems with the MCQs. You can certainly binge through the materials, then use the MCQs to test your knowledge? I am sure there are many of members here that went through that process successfully. Again, each individual is different.

Good luck my friend. FAR is tough for me.
