I know this may sound like a silly question, but I was wondering how much of the exam mc questions (% wise) are conceptual (rather than using computations)? The reason I ask is that Becker seems to be split around 60/40 with more computation-type problems. It takes me a lot longer to do these type of questions but I can make up for it with the questions that don’t involve any arithmetic. I’m just trying to get an idea of how much time I can spend on some of the harder questions on the exam.

Thanks in advance and I hope this question doesnt violate any site guidelines.

@Oceanman, I was planning to post same question, until I saw your post. What percent of FAR consist of conceptual and computation. Thanks for starting a thread.

I think it depends on how well you doing since its adaptive. On my first exam which I failed the third testlet was so easy that I had one liner conceptual questions. The last one I got a 75 it was about an even mix of both. I'm can't tell you how glad I am to be done with that beast, but trust me if I can pass working 50-65 hr weeks then anyone can! Good Luck

I would say they have slghtly more computational than conceptional. 55:45

It also depends what you call computational. There are questions that do not involve heavy computations but the question is long and involves numbers and you need to read it and sort through the facts. I throw them within the computational questions.

Having used Becker to prepare for FAR, I walked into the exam expecting a computational/conceptual mix roughly equal to what I had experienced in the Becker software. On my exam, however, I thought there were much fewer computational questions than the software would have suggested. I couldn't begin to give you a percentage, but it was definitely lower than I expected. Also, on all the sections that have computational-type questions, the actual exam questions that were computational in nature seemed to be less complex than those in the Becker material.

Reading this thread has given me a good chuckle. I took FAR in August and I do not have the SLIGHTEST clue of how the questions were distributed among computational/conceptual. Now that's pretty sad 🙂

    AUD: 95 (7/14/10)
    REG: 94 (7/22/10)
    BEC: 87 (7/29/10)
    FAR: 95 (8/12/10)
