henry8479ParticipantI am taking my test on Wednesday 5/29/2013 and I am freaking out. I am using Becker and have done all the HW except the sim ( I really hate them with all my guts). Anyhow, I wanted to ask for any tips on what subjects to focus on and how much to worry about IFRS?

AnonymousInactiveThat is a tough question to answer without violating exam disclosures. Just make sure you RTFQ!

MBA MST CPAMemberIn addition to RTFQ, I would suggest that you double and triple check all of your calculations – especially the simple ones. I don't take FAR until tomorrow but I know from my practice software that It's really easy to lose points for making dumb mistakes. I've missed too many practice MCQs because I read a question that says “A company took out a loan on June 1…” and think that they held the loan for only six months of that year or read a question that says that a company has returns of 1% of $60,000 of sales and answering that net sales were $54,000. After you finish a section, go back and recalculate your answers so you do not lose points for dumb mistakes. Good luck
REG - 11/5/2012 - 80
BEC - 1/17/2013 - 76
AUD - 2/22/2013 - 70 4/5/2013 - 75
FAR - 5/28/2013 - 75 - Done!!!Question: What do you call someone who only gets 75's and 76's on the four parts of the CPA exam?
Answer: A CPA

samchi008MemberI'm taking my FAR exam tomorrow and I am also freaking out. This will be the third time I am taking this part. I took a practice test yesterday and I got below a 60%. I am using Becker mostly, but used Wiley for my sims. I used only Wiley the second time I took it and I averaged 60% on the MCQs and that's exactly what I got on my exam. So this time I tried rewriting the notes from the Becker book. I also used the Ninja Notes and wrote those two times through. But I find that when I sit down to take the real exam or practice exam, anxiety overwhelms me and I just want to be done. I think that's partially why I don't score well. Any other suggestions on what to go through today as a final review before tomorrow? I am horrible at J/Es so I am going back through the book to look through those now. Ugh….I just want to study for something other than FAR at this point.
Here's to being hopeful about tomorrow!!
Good luck to any other test takers!!

Ntw6817ParticipantI'm taking the test tomorrow and am averaging in the 60s on the practice tests on Becker. It's mainly because of stupid mistakes. Hopefully we all do well. Good Luck!

hopefulcpa73MemberI'm also taking FAR this week, so I'm in the same boat as you all. Are you guys referring to the Becker progress tests or practice exams? I'm doing as many 30-question progress tests as I can manage to fit in before Thursday. Does anyone know from experience if this is an effective way to prepare, or if I can predict my performance on the actual exam from these progress test scores? I seem to be doing fairly decently, averaging between 70-90 on them, but I'm still not feeling confident at all. I feel like there are some areas that I just don't have time to master at this point. Is that normal? I know I've already taken two other exams but FAR is just a completely different animal. I just really hope I don't have to suffer through a second round of it.

memmy29Participant@hopefulcpa I've been doing the Becker progress tests and Wiley MCQs. For BEC I was averaging 84% and that's what I got on the exam. On my last attempt with FAR my Becker progress tests were averaging 63% and I got a 71. Not sure what to think…

MustPass1988MemberIt's funny because I have taken & passed all the other sections but even with this one being my last, knowing what its like right before you test, I still don't feel confident at all and I'm freaking out, even though I know I have never felt very confident walking into the test. There's always certain topics that I dont feel comfortable with or don't know as well as other topics and I'll do progress tests just on those ones, score a 65% and freak out thinking I'm going to fail. For this test, I decided to forego the intense 8-10 hour a day review sessions as I've already studied everything at least 2-3 times because I think that it's just going to stress me out. Good luck everyone! You know way more than you're giving yourself credit for and just because you don't know the statement of CF like the back of your hand, the chances of getting more than 10 questions on it (or whatever topic you don't feel comfortable with) is seriously small!

henry8479ParticipantSo I just got back from prometrics and let me just say that “it is probable and more likely than not ” that I will be taking this test again. It was a nightmare, most MCQ qualified as essays or mini stories in terms of length. I felt as if the questions were written in a foreign language because they made no sense, I had to read the question 2 and 3 times just to get an idea of what they were asking, In my opinion, some of these MCQ totally qualified as mini SIMS. I am sure, I will be having nightmares today.
