Is it normal to feel like you don’t know anything before taking FAR…I have been studying since July and am taking the exam on Monday and feel like I know anything…Am I just getting nervous???

LOL! I'm in the same boat – started studying the last week of July and taking FAR on Monday. And super-nervous.

But, I've studied much better than my 1st attempt at FAR (I tried it as my 1st exam, and I had no idea how to study). If you actually made it through all of your review material once, you'll probably do better than I did on my first attempt. I didn't even study NFP & Govt. Accounting!

Goodness I don't think I have ever been this nervous for a test, I got high 70s on the progress tests for becker (did them the last two weeks) and now I'm looking at the MCQs like they are another language

That is a pretty good score since you skipped NFP & Gov. Wow, you did awesome on the others!

Also taking the test on Monday and right there with you. Have been doing my final review all day and it's going terrible. Let's look at the bright side; if we're pooled together for scoring we can bring down the curve and have a better chance at passing!

I took FAR back in August and thought it didn't go too horribly but ended up with a 73. Still, I didn't feel like there was much material I wasn't comfortable with at that point and scheduled my re-take for this Monday thinking that would be plenty of time to keep reviewing and hitting the MCQs.

Now, two days before my exam, I feel like I know nothing and am even less prepared to sit for FAR now than I was in August. There's just so much material! I have 38 typed pages of notes and around 10 pages of journal entries and calculations that I've compiled since August that I hadn't even SEEN when I studied for my first FAR exam. Now I wonder how I even pulled off a 73 the first time, lol.

And has anyone else noticed that a lot of people seem to be taking FAR on the 20th? Brooks might be on to something if we all do terrible! 🙂

I take FAR on Monday too and I may or may not have cried a ‘lil bit while studying today, lol.

There is just way too much information! With my other exams I was nervous but didn't feel sick to my stomach. This is not only my last section but I'll find out my score on the first day of my vacation (either a really good thing or a really bad thing), AND my 18-month window is up in February.

Also, with all my other tests I have taken the day before the test “easy” and actually slept in, had fun, relaxed, whatever, and maybe did one progress test before going to bed. I swear by this and I've had more than one co-worker tell me they failed FAR because they went in totally sleep-deprived from being up late cramming the night before. That said, I still haven't even reviewed non-profit (which I actually find kind of cumbersome and blah) and have just skimmed through F10, so I don't think I can take it easy tomorrow and actually relax. I really am pretty sleep-deprived at this point and am making stupid mistakes in my progress tests.

In short, I have the FAR jitters too.

LOL so the game plan is do horrible on FAR Monday so everyone can pass! Select option 2 for everything and put 0s for the simulations…

amandilee – that is a good sign, you didn't see much of the material and missed it by a few point (ughhh so frustrating)! You will do awesome on Monday 🙂

Peach – Aww, I actually cried while working on pension simulations in the morning…this is my first exam so I have no clue on what to expect. Get some rest tomorrow night before the exam and regardless to the outcome, enjoy your much needed vacation!

My eyes are burning from being open too long..but I feel like I accomplished nothing today 🙁

I almost had a heart attack lol prometric sends a reminder email to tell you that your exam date is approaching (I didn't know, this is my 1st exam) I saw that it is dated 10/18 and thought it meant that my test date is 10/18!!! Oh boy, that was not cool

Don't worry, I think that is a common feeling. I walked into my test feeling like I knew nothing after over 6 weeks of studying. Just relax, try to sleep, and remember that you've done the best that you can!

Im traumatize because of FAR, and now I think all the other parts will be as difficult. The first time I took FAR, I did not cover CH. 10, NFP and IFRS and got a 68. The second time I took the exam, I covered NFO,IFRS and Ch 10,but didnt do a lot of simulations and got a 71. The score report said strong and stronger in everything except for simulations. The third time around I didnt skip anything and did a bunch of simulations from Gleim and got an 84. I think becker prepares you well for the MC part of FAR,but they assume you know all your JEs like the palm of your hand. This used to work prior to 2011 when simulations were on 20% of the exam ,and MC was 70%,I think they need to update their material at least for FAR.

Barce – Oh boy that sounds like it was a rough experience with FAR! I hope that the others are not as bad!!! Everyone says FAR is the hardest and REG is 2nd hardest, and I hope that they are being truthful. I am going really crazy with FAR, I'm tired of looking at the material but still feel unprepared…like my mind is telling me you can't take in more info just stop

I took one for the FAR team, it kicked my butt on Friday. Not sure if I even made it into the 70's. Went med, med, hard, then sims said “let me kick you around while you cry”. Got the research question, and that's the only one I felt confident about.
