AnonymousInactiveHi there,
I’m planning to write FAR in January 18, 2014.
Someone in the same boat?
I’m planning my study time for 2 months and leave the first two weeks of January just to a general review,
I’m expecting my review material next week.
Has anyone make a planner for 2 months of this exam?
I would like to compare!
Thanks

Study MonkMemberAre you working full time? What CPA materials are you getting? I will give you an idea of what I am doing if you have Becker, otherwise it might not translate.
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

julietulMemberI will be taking FAR in January. Just started to study this week. I will study the course material (using Bisk) for 7 weeks. Take one week break, then start cramming for 3 more weeks. Test scheduled for January 18th. I plan to supplement my Bisk Review with something else. I have an old Wiley FAR book (2012) plus I might buy the Wiley test bank. Really not sure yet…..This is going to be tricky with the Holidays, but I am determined.
FAR - pass (expires 7/31/15)
AUD - pass
BEC - pass

knollrMemberI'm taking the exam in January too. I started reviewing this weekend. I'm using the Wiley 2012 FAR book and ninja notes. What else can you recommend?

Iron_VictoryMemberI'm also planning on taking FAR 1/13/14.
I'm getting married 11/8/13 and starting my study on 11/15/13 which gives me 8 weeks + 2 days. It isn't going to be easy but I feel like that is a good amount of time for this exam.
I feel like I might be the only one on this board or part of a VERY small minority that is using Kaplan self study. They have a study planner that you can use. Fridays are the only days I take off of study, so its usually about 2-3 per weekday and about 4-6 hours on the weekends. I just can not do an 8 hour study session it works against me so I have to do smaller more focused chunks to retain the info.
I started studying FAR a while ago before I took any exams but quickly was frustrated with it. After 2x AUD(one 74 and waiting on the results) and a BEC pass I have a better understanding of the exam process in general. That does not mean a pass but it helps. FAR is it's own content beast with unique challenges.
Just like my last AUD exam I'm going to work in the 24 hour free trial of WTB to mix it up. Rewriting the Kaplan flashcards in my own words also helps me since they are very technical and long generally.
AUD - (74),78
BEC - 85
FAR - 86

AmayMemberI am also sitting in January! Using Becker my plan is: Lectures ~2 weeks, MCQs ~4 weeks, rewrite notes ~1 week, take a break starting the weekend before Xmas until Jan 2nd (with some light studying), and then re-do MCQs on review mode (NINJA style) for about a week and a half before my test. I am factoring in some extra time because I am just so busy at work right now that I may not be able to get as much as I want done before the holidays. Good luck to everyone studying!
BEC: 73, 81
AUD: 85
FAR: 71, 77
REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! š*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently š
