Just started really studying FAR.

I expected something like my advanced accounting class.

I got weird government accounting and grants.

Do the topics stay so odd or is there more balance sheets and typical accounting what not?

Your advanced accounting class didn't have Government Accounting in it? You lucky thing!

I felt like FAR resembled Intermediate (I & II), Advanced, and what I imagine Advanced II would have been like if I'd taken it, with some other random topics thrown in too. The topics are a lot of weird stuff, but the good thing (?) with FAR is that there's so much, it can't all be weird haha. 🙂

Gov't/NFP accounting is about 20% of FAR, so expect quite a bit of it.

There's a ton of curriculums in the U.S that don't have Government Accounting in Advanced classes. But you should be seeing everything you've learned in undergrad about accounting on FAR aside from Individual/Corp Taxation and Cost/Managerial Accounting.

I NEED TO PASS FAR (1st test= need the confidence…AND IM POOR LOL) ITS “WIERDNESS” IS SCARING ME!! 32days left to study and at this point a year doesn't seem long enough!

At my old university, government accounting was a separate class from advanced accounting. I liked it more than intermediate financial accounting. Intermediate financial is hell.

I took all my accounting classes through LSU and their Advanced included Government and NFP for a chapter (last chapter IIRC), but they also had a separate course to go more in depth. My friends at other schools also had Government and NFP in their Advanced course, so I thought it was an unavoidable evil…now I just know I picked the wrong school…OK maybe it wasn't that bad, but it was rough at the time!
