I’m about midway through FAR becker… and… I just. dont. even.

I thought I felt lost with BEC.

I’m going through the homework in F5 right now and I’m getting tons of the homework wrong. It’s like my brain completely shuts down when it sees multiple interest rates, multiple periods, amortization, premiums, and then throw in some freaking detachable warrants? If I pass FAR this time, I am so going to buy myself a present. How is this possible? Are there any easier chapters coming up? Someone tell me it’s going to be okay.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

Everytime I start a new section I think it can't be harder than the last one, but then midway through studying I feel like I'm screwed. Then…test day comes and I am completely overwhelmed. Then I take the test, get the score back, and realize all the hard work paid off.

My point is these tests are all about hard work and fighting through some rough topics. An earlier poster said something I can definitely relate to…I am not a super smart person, but I was able to pass with a lot of hard work and focus. You can do it too!

    AUD - 80 (05/23/2012)
    FAR - 75 (08/09/2012)
    BEC - 81 (12/05/2012)
    REG - 71 (10/16/2012); 70 (02/12/2013); 78 (04/08/2013)
    Ethics - 98

Glad to know I'm not the only one who struggles with FAR! This section is definitely a beast.

I am on F5 right now. Going through bonds the first time through was like reading a foreign language. I was so lost and got so frustrated. I just took a little break, calmed myself down, and now I'm doing somewhat better.

I just think it all comes with time – the more times you go through something, the more you will understand it. I guess that's why they say repetition is key. I feel like that is the golden rule of studying – keep plugging away at something, even if you don't understand it.

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 99
    REG - 85
    BEC - 10/4/13 (Waiting)

I would gladly retake FAR in place of BEC. BEC is like FAR but with 10x harder calculations and words, terms, and formulas that I've never heard of in my life.

    FAR - 85
    AUD - 86
    BEC - 84
    REG - 88

You can't be serious. BEC is a joke compared to FAR. I studied 80 hrs for BEC and completely skipped the “variance analysis” section, and I still passed. I've studied 180+ hrs on FAR w/o skipping any sections, and I feel much less confident than I was at this point before taking BEC.

BEC is cake compared to FAR. Just memorize all the ratios and definitions, and use logic. For FAR, you have to memorize arbitrary rules (IFRS & GAAP). For BEC, there is a good chunk of logic (Econ, corp. govern., financial mgmt).

The most important thing is the MC is 75% (you have a 25% chance even if you don't know the answer) and you have essays that are graded by how well you can type complete sentences and use keywords, not if you get the answer right. LOL!
