    So Im taking FAR Aug 30th. Using Becker, in the middle of F3. Not employed right now so I have all the time in the world. But Im beginning to think that the way I studied for BEC and AUD will not apply here. I mean there is so much random information. ugh. Its honestly demoralizing. Today I wanted to finish F3 but realized I had no idea what in the heck I was reading. I guess I will keep trucking on. Anyone else change their study habits or process for FAR? I wouldnt say the material is tougher (honestly think Variances in BEC will be the hardest thing for me) but the AMOUNT OF STUFF is asinine. haha just venting. Thanks : )

    Audit 4/19/12 - 77
    BEC 5/31/12 - 75

    I feel your pain guys. I'm preparing for FAR now and I”m not going to be reading the Wiley book at all. Too long, and too much information that will never be tested. I am going through becker lectures. My usual strategy is to take notes as I listen, but this time I figured listen to them FIRST without taking notes. I'll go back through them because a lot of the material in FAR is challenging for me. I agree with the multiple choice and simulations approach. I'll try and master the multiple choice in wiley as I have found their questions are beasts and if you can handle them you can handle the real exam. I saved FAR for last but for me it was the right thing to do because I wanted to build confidence that I could do this CPA exam. I think I can do FAR too but it's gonna take more practice than the others. FYI the wiley far book is near 970 pages. Brutal!

    I am also taking FAR at the end of Aug and it has been a struggle working full time esp now that its quarter end. I have determined it is going to be nearly impossible to memorize all the details from the Becker book so i am focusing getting down the main points in each chapter. I think by getting the main points down you can work your way through a majority of the problems. Bottom line, its exhausting and somewhat painful esp in the middle of summer when its so nice out

    @Tia

    I think a lot of the pressure comes from not knowing what to expect since this is the first exam. I feel once i take FAR at the end of Aug (and hopefully pass) i will feel more confident with the future exams. After taking the first exam and getting results back, you will also know how your studying techniques paid off. Obviously if you don't pass, something has to change and vice versa if you do well, stick to what works for you. Anyways, good luck on your studying

    My first time with FAR was my first test, so studying was kind of a trial run. I think I did not actually practice the J/E's and the specific set up of the “methods” much, which I really regret. This time I am watching my Becker lectures and when I get to something like “Equity Method”, I tear off a separate sheet of paper and write down the specifics. I figure I'll have about 25-30 of these pages when I am done. I am hoping that it is a much more “consolidated” way of studying….see what I did there? I think it will help having that big picture knowledge that is important to passing FAR.

    FAR - 67, 85
    AUD - 50, 68, 79 I'm DONE!
    BEC - 81
    REG - 78

    First Expiration = 8/31/2013
