Hi everyone,

So my FAR exam is in just under 2 weeks. So far I’m not doing as well as I would like. I’m using Becker. A lot of sections I am doing worse than the first time I went through them. I did well on my REG exam and I remember going through final review I was doing better the 2nd time around, which is what you would expect. For the most part im still in the 70s and 80s but is this normal? I know this is a hard exam but I feel I should be doing better.

Right now i’m finishing up going through the sections for the 2nd time, then I will possibly go through them again, or should I just jump into progress tests and re working my marked questions? I’m also going to try and memorize as many becker flashcards as I can, as I did for my REG exam.

I am not the most experienced CPA candidate out there but based on my inquiries about FAR (and I investigated more than 99% of candidates I can assure you), you should be doing fine. Sometimes you can be friend and that could explain why on the second round you are not scoring better but if you are using Becker (which you are) and scoring 70s than you should be fine. I want to be exact, are you scoring 70-80 on HW or progress tests? If HW are you scoring that range on the first try and than it stays in the same range? and how soon are you redoing problems? How do you feel about Sims?

Myself, I started on Governmental (using Becker), and covered chapters 8,9,10,1,2,3 so I got 4 more to go until April 20th and then off to a review where I'll be drilling hundreds of MCQs. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your exams. I hope you do as well as you did on REG!

I'm scoring in the 70s and 80s on the HWs for my second time around. The sims I actually wasnt doing all that bad. I know I need to spend some extra time on the Cash Flows and some others. I would like to be able to go through all of the HWs a third time before going into progress and practice tests but I dont think that I have the time for it. Good luck to you as well!!

@scestone I mean technichaly you could make another round but I dont think it would be the smartest thing to do since you have couple of areas where you would like to double check things. How was your first round scoring on Hws and if you dont mind answering why you did not do progress tests after each chapter? Have you done full practice exam from Becker? Thanks for wishing me well

My first time around I was in the 70s and 80s. Of course there were some areas where this may have been worse or better but on avg in that area. I was trying to get through the material as fast as possible because I'm taking BEC at the end of the month and I'm also finishing up grad school. I didnt do any progress tests for REG while I was going through the material the 1st time but I reviewed for longer than I am for FAR
