    Hello CPA Family

Iam new here , I will set for FAR in MAY as my first exam and I have finished F5 after one month of studying 6+ hours a day

i have read alot here before my first post

some people say that they can get in 90’s on FAR in just 80 hours of studying

other people say about 150 or 200 maximum

but for me i think as example F5 alone will take from me 80+ hours to master

and when i revise as example F2 now i forget alot even it takes from me around 30 hours for first study

that mean that i have to revise it 2 times at least untill exam date and do MCQ and SIMS 2 times and that will take alot of time for each chapter

i think that FAR will take from me more than 800 hours to pass it and that make me nervous

and i feel like quit and that i am not a good studier even i was a good studier when i was in university

    any help or tips appreciated

    BTW i use Becker review

F2 in Becker is one of the harder sections of the entire FAR review. I had problems getting over that hump as well. You just need to plow through the material and do NOT get hung up on trying to master every item you come across. Just keep moving and keep doing progress tests to keep the material fresh in your mind. If you get caught trying to master a particular item before moving on, you'd never finish the book. You will be frustrated and discouraged at doing the review. I certainly was. That is how it is, but don't let that detour you from keeping strong and getting through it. This stuff is a matter of will.

thank you, really i think the problem is that i try to master the book before going to MCQ

because even i master the book when i go to MCQ i get around 70%

MCQ's are tricky and some of them i have diffuclty to understand what he exactly want or worded in a way that he want to trap you,ohh god ,so bad feeling when i study book and feel i undestand every thing very well and when i go to MCQs and then when i finish it i have headache and feel like that passing the exam is not doable.

i will just keep going and see what will happen

I am on f4. Going thru the text was pretty easy, but the mcqs are kicking my behind like no other section. Far is my final exam. Im feeling so overwhelmed. Makes me want to go to watch tv lol. F1-3 was reasonable with no complaints. Anyone else having the same bad xp with f4?

Btw. Im using becker. Id say i learn the most from doing mcqs. The text is a foundational for the mcqs imho. I would consider spending more time on mcqs

Personally, I never liked using number of hours of studying as a metric, especially just an arbitrary number that someone else came up with. One hour of studying can be a lot more or less productive than the next hour. Instead, focus on study objectives. That's what makes most CPA software really useful (I use Becker as well)- as it breaks material down into different sections and you can measure your progress in learning it. Your objective should be to master the concepts- and then you back into your required number of weeks to master it, rather than say “I'm going to study “x” hours and hope it's enough”. Maybe that works for some people, but I never personally work that way.

My point is that you shouldn't set your study plan just based on hours. Some people probably could get ready for FAR in 80 hours. Some need more time.

    Good luck!

I agree with Chinsuky, mcq is the key and lecture is foundation. My preparation is based on Study theory (watching vdo) and then once i grab sense of the material I jump into mcq for the section. Learn a lot from the mcq. and then progress to next section. However, recently im finishing the whole chapter and hitting the mcqs. I make notes on mcqs i find difficult to understand and explanations to review later. I plan to finish all chap by mid march. Start reviewing everything chap wise may be for 2 weeks and do mcqs and simulations. hope we all kill the beast on upcoming window.

@AnasAG, hang in there, u can do it!
