san4596MemberI have read the book, and am now venturing through the Ninja MCQ’s. It’s now Monday, and I am freaking out because FAR is in 20 days! I have been going through the questions and taking down fact nuggets. My study schedule is currently ranging 20-25 hours a week, and I am learning a great amount of material. I also listen to Jeff’s Ninja Audio to and from work (What an ASSET!).
My question: “What would your attack plan be, and would you move the test back 1 more week?”
Note: Family and full-time job at a CPA Firm. I may not be allowed to move the test back 1 more week due to tax season. 🙁

Our value does not come from our skills and abilities, as good as they may be; it does not come from our GPA, our job, a promotion from that job to a better job, our success on the CPA exam, or anything of the like; but our value comes from the fact that we have a Creator who loves us, cares for us, and desires to help us navigate the rough waters of this life in a way that provides security, hope, and true, everlasting joy while we anticipate the life to come, with Him.

I don't get an abundance of time to study, 2hours a day approx. so the audio I am excited about

san4596MemberI have been doing lunch everyday (appox. 45 min.) and staying late at work to study 2-3 hrs on Mon/Tues/Thur. That does not include the audio time that adds about 30-45 min each day. I also study 6 hrs on Sat and Sun. I am hoping to have at least a full week to review. That week I follow Jeff's ELL plan busting out serious hours(30-35 hrs), and do a short review (2.5 hrs) just before the exam.

ThisBetterBeItMemberI would hammer the mcq's. That's actually a pretty good amount of time left with all that you've already done. Just work hard at taking practice tests and applying to knowledge you learned through the reading and audio. As you go through the questions, write down the ones that you miss most and go back and study that material.

AnonymousInactiveYou actually have a ton of study time in front of you. And I bow to you sir because I do not know how you do all this in public with a family.
Just any free second you have do MCQ's over and over and over again. I have never been able to make flashcards work for me but if they work for you you can keep them at your desk, set an alarm on your phone for every hour and then spend 10 minutes reviewing flashcards.
You haven't really indicated how FAR (sorry, had to do it) along you are. If you're on chapter one and only have 20 days then yes, maybe considering pushing it back. But if you're already through the book you are golden.
You got this. FAR is terrible because it's so much material and at least I never, not for a second felt prepared for the test. What I am trying to say is just keep trucking along. You know your strengths, you know your weaknesses. If you're true to that and stay diligent on your study plan you'll totally pass.

san4596MemberBrooks – I read the entire Wiley Novel! Right now I am working my way through the multiple choice questions for the first time, and still have about 1200 questions unseen, which is what freaks me out. That is why I am considering pushing back just 1 more week, but am really on the fence.

PumpkinsMemberIf you've already read the whole book, and if you have any background in accounting at all, 20 days of study is a lot of time.
Just keep doing problems…

AnonymousInactiveI wouldn't sweat it. Based on what you have said you have around 75 hours of study time left. 1200 questions spread over 75 hours is 16 questions an hour. But really, don't base your success on being able to complete these 1200 questions. You've passed three parts, you know. Make sure you are understanding the concept. If you can get it understood in 10 questions then focus on another topic 🙂

san4596MemberUpdate: This is a perfect example of “Life Happens” while taking the CPA exam. Last night, I received a call that my grandmother is about to pass away. I have not heard from her since 2007, and have not been close with that side of my family for years. My father abandoned me when I was 11 yrs old, and I have not heard from him since. Over the years, I have made multiple attempts to contact my father, and let him know the door is always open with a welcome mat. Needless to say, my father called me for the first time in 23 yrs, and my emotions got the best of me. Not 1 MCQ was done last night.
So, I am delaying my exam 1 week to allow for me to recover and be prepared for what I hope to be my last exam.

mt3130MemberI would say you're fine, considering I only studied for FAR for 9 days total. If you use the MCQs to their full potential, you don't even need the books, audio, etc.
I would recommend doing a custom MCQ set up, where you are doing one chapter at a time. When you go through the MCQs, whether you get them right or wrong, read the explanations and definitions below, these will help you correctly answer questions on topics you haven't seen before. After you complete all the questions in a given chapter, go back through and do the chapter again, selecting on the questions you got wrong the first time.
Once you get through all of the chapters, then start doing the MCQs from all the chapters at once. I used this method for all four of my exams, and passed the first three with fairly high marks.I studied for REG for 6 days, FAR for 9 days, and BEC for 4 days, and scored 90, 89, and 83, respectively. In my opinion, the books and lectures are a waste of time.
REG - 90 (08/2014) - Study Time = 6 days
FAR - 89 (10/2014) - Study Time = 9 days
BEC - 83 (11/2014) - Study Time = 4 days
AUD - 89 (01/2015) - Study Time = 2 daysFinal score released - 2/4/15
Application mailed - 2/5/15

san4596MemberGabe – thank you. I will continue to study, but there is a small delay.
mt – I agree that the MCQ's are the most valuable thing. I do not have the time to complete FAR in 9 days between a full time job and family. I think the audio helps a little while driving, as long as you are paying attention to it. I also do the custom MCQ looking at only New questions, but I am doing it by section not chapter. My goal is to go through every question the first time, go back and review all questions missed for each section until my scores are in the 80's, and then go all out review over everything. By the end, my 30 MCQ set scores should range between 80-100%, and that should complete my adventure.
