I go through about 231 Becker MCQs (in sets of 33 MCQs 7 times) then move onto Ninja MCQs (sets of 30 MCQs 6 times) so a total of 400+ a day.
Note that I’m studying full-time for FAR, and what I’ve been doing may be a little extreme, but I’d rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. I strongly believe in both quality/quantity of doing MCQs. With that being said, some conceptual/calculation MCQs, you should be able to recognize and answer them a lot faster than others. For instance, if a question asks you to identify one of the elements of relevance (or could be faithful representation), you should already know what those elements are in your head if you’re 2 weeks away from taking exam. Also, if they are asking a simple calculation question to find missing/damaged inventory, then you should be already thinking the formula: beginning inventory + purchases = COGAFS – ending inventory = COGS, and go from there.
Obviously, everyone’s situation is different, but if you come across a really diffcult question on which you’re spending more than enough time, then don’t spin the wheel, and move onto next MCQs you could have done and learned more concepts from, especially if your time is limited because you’re working full-time, have a family or whatever the reason is.
Yes – studying for FAR sucks, not because it’s the most difficult section of the CPA exam conceptually, but it covers so many topics. Like one wise Ninja on this forum said, “FAR is an inch deep and a mile wide.” Stay motivated and keep working through MCQs.
