I’m using Becker and I’m getting 50s and 60s on my first try through the homework problems. Is this just a matter of lack of repetition or am I in some trouble?

That was my average score the first time on most of the Becker homework for every section. However, I would do them until I got 100% and made sure to understand the correct answers. Don't give up hope. I found Becker questions to be significantly harder than the actual exam and appreciated the extra work ensuring I was well prepared come test day.

You are in no trouble 🙂 Everybody (except people who are robots) does average or poor on the first attempt. It sounds like you learn best by doing/hands-on and therefore you are really going to see improvement.

I haven't used Becker, but FWIW, Gleim has pretests (on which I would average about a 30-35%). After the pretests, you study the material, and then you do more MCQs. Doesn't matter how well I thought I understood the material, it usually look several MCQs until I could get a passing score, and many, many more until I felt comfortable. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say I worked thousands of questions per section (not all those are unique questions). So, no, don't expect to do well on your first (or second) MCQ.

The way I did it is I studied each subchapter at a time and immediately took the related MCQ. Don't jump to MCQ right away. Take your time studying, reading, memorizing, familiarizing.. etc before solving MCQ.

I am doing really bad as well…Struggling to say the least. Don't worry, just keep redoing the ones you got incorrect and make sure you know WHY.

On another note, can someone please let me know if intercompany transactions (towards the end of F3)is a highly tested subject? There's like two pages on it in Becker but there are like 30 hw problems…which reading the book doesnt help with. I was struggling on those HW problems. Thanks.

    BEC - 76 (1/24/15)
    REG - 82 (4/13/15)
    AUD - 89 (5/31/15)
    FAR - 78 (8/16/15)

Starting right now I'll be strong
    I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

Scoring in the 50-60's on the first try is actually pretty good. It shows you are comprehending some of the materials and need to work on certain areas.
