    So, I am currently studying for the FAR section using Wiley (Exam May 30th) and I am getting tired of watching these lectures, and feel that I don’t remember most of the other material I have already studied. I kind of know the concept but don’t really know every detail (I still have to go back to my weak points eg investment, bonds, equity, gw). I have just finished up EPS and was thinking about skipping the currency lessons (or just going through them once to get the big picture) and then finishing up leases, NFP and GOV. Then I would start reviewing with MCQ and TBS in the Wiley Test Bank, and brush up on my weak points. I condensed my wiley schedule so I would have 3 weeks of strictly reviewing with MCQ, TBS, and simulated exams. Any suggestion if this is a good strategy …. I feel that at this point I will learn more doing questions.

    LOL. The same thing happened to me. By the time I was 70% into all of the lectures, I had totally forgot what I had learned earlier. Good thing I had taken notes. I used a “prospective” approach 🙂 I decided to just not think about it and keep moving forward with my lectures until I was done. When I finished I went back and “tried” to skim over the earlier parts using my textbook and notes. Honestly for certain parts, I felt as if I was relearning the whole thing again cause I had totally forgotten some of the parts. But of course I did so at a much quicker pace. Spent about a day going back and refreshing everything before I started on the MCQs. You don't have to go in depth cause that's what the MCQs are for.

    Currency is one of those topics where I can see them throwing in a question for everyone. It is a gloss over topic but then you will be happy you spent an extra 20 minutes on it. It just seems so common in international companies. At some point I just pushed through to get into my final review stage. Don't overlook Gov't and NFP. Also know leases and bonds. So many little tricks they can play on you with those topics.

    @Master I wouldn't skip the currency sections…

    I understand where you are coming from relating to FAR and I used CPAExcel to prepare as well.

    Suggestion, go through all the lessons and do the MCQs in exam mode. If you score below a 90 on that section concentrate on that lesson. I did that about 3 weeks out from the exam (took about a week to do) and it made all the difference.

    Good luck.
