FAR has too much shiet. Honestly, I remember more information from college classes and Jeff’s Ninja notes/audio than from my review course (still getting about 40% on Wiley Test Bank btw). But I digress, for better or for worse I’m taking FAR on this coming Saturday.

I spent all of today doing Bonds and I'm discouraged getting 50% on the Wiley testbank. And then for the other topics about the same, 40-60. And then there are the long sims to worry about… How do people remember so much info and pass this thing

@CPA_Romantic do you do the testbank with random topics, or one topic at a time? I find that doing one topic forces me to remember concepts more, than doing a session with just random ones.

@Mia I select all topics when I use the Test Bank. Although practicing only one topic at a time sounds like a good idea.

Just a suggestion, try to find 2-3 areas you're weakest in and do all the questions individually for those areas. It would surely boost your confidence for your test next week if you could nail those topics.

Never be discouraged by your scores. Studying for a CPA is not a class you're looking to make an A. I learned that going through FAR with Becker. Just going section by section, I would score in the high 60's/low 70's EVERY time basically right after going through the material (give or take a couple days).

You learn by doing. If you know you've studied enough and made a conscious effort to learn while doing MCQ you'll be fine. Confidence, as long as you've put the time in, is the #1 key to the Exam in my opinion. You absolutely have to be confident.

I constantly told myself, “FAR is a beast but it's my beast and I'm gonna tame it.”

    STAY POSITIVE.

CPA_Romantic and Mia, I've had a similar experience while studying for FAR. Right after reading a section and doing the book MCQ's, I score in anywhere from the 40% to the 80% range with most scores around 65% in Wiley test bank.

From what I've gathered, that is pretty much normal. CPA_Romantic, hopefully the strategy Mia mentioned helps you out. It may be easier to catch onto a topic if you do MCQ's from the same section. Good luck with the exam.

I want to retain my confidence going into Tuesday. I am brushing up on leases, bonds, N/P, pensions, GOV/NFP, investments, and doing a full length exam with the answers displayed. I am not doing anything more in exam mode!

    Good luck all!
