Hello, first post, I am currently waiting for my NTS for my first attempt and my first part of the exam… FAR. I was/am planning to take this test aroung the end of May, but have not been able to get the necessary study time in to feel comfortable. I know its all about my decisions, but heck, it is hard to get 100+ hrs of study time when you got a 18 month old running around, full time job, and a wife who works 12 hour shifts on weekends.

That being said, I am still planning to just buckle down until the end of May and sit for the exam then, but I have been looking ahead in my review book (yeager/wiley) and some of the review questions seem beyond anything I remember from school, so now I am scared ****less..

Should i just postpone my exam until the next window and deal with the new informaiton that may be added to the test during the july/august window, or is it doable to prepare in the next 8 weeks?

I'm spending all day studying for FAR for about a month now, and I'm still not through Becker and not feeling comfortable.

If you can do it with 8 weeks on a part time basis you are a better man than I am..

Personally, I would postpone it. I took FAR the first two times while working full time and didn't know how much studying it actually took to pass. The third time around I added the ninja notes (so helpful!) and did multiple choice questions and practice exams on Wiley until I threw up (figuratively of course) and was getting over 80%. It's a narly section and it took me the first two attempts to figure out how to conquer it…. BUT I obviously wish I had studied for longer and harder the first time around and just passed it then! The hard thing about stretching out your study period is you forget things. The real key for me is the final review the week right before the test- I rewrite my ninja notes five times in that week and do at least 5-6 practice exams. Only then do I really feel ready.

It's up to you if you think you can get through all of the material, do the problems in the book 2-3 times like they suggest AND have at least a week or two for that final review!! Good luck 🙂

    FAR: PASSED!! 64, 68, 79 on 2/27/13!
    AUD: PASSED!! 73, 93 on 4/5/13!!!
BEC: PASSED!! 75 (phew) on 5/24/13!
REG: PASSED!!! 77 on 8/7/13 I AM DONE!!!!!

    Experience: got it!
Ethics Exam: PASSED on first try (what a waste of money)

I guess it all depends on how much studying time you are willing put in during the work week and the weekend. It sounds like your weekends are full having to watch your kid while your wife is working?

I worked full time and spent 3 hours every night with 8 hours on both Saturdays and Sundays for 8 weeks and passed my FAR. If you put in the time FAR is definitely doable. Good luck!
