I read a lot of posts about how people notice their exams getting harder. But for me it was a blur. The testlets were difficultly easy, it wasn’t difficult as the questions were short and all, but it was very difficult in that the questions were so darn detailed for goodness sake! I liked the third testlet the most as it wasn’t as detailed, maybe because I sucked one the first two. I don’t know, I came out feeling unfair, I guess what I’m trying to say is that it tested so much stupid stuff that you don’t normally think about. The sims were difficult, but at least the stuff is relevant. I am getting ready for a re-take, but as a hard-working student (passed CFA level II), I say my hardwork is wasted on this one… Anyone had similar experience?

Hey there I just sat this morning also…. and it was brutal. I had a beer right after to ease the pain! This was/is my last one and I am just hoping for everyone else to trip up like I did and get the curve thing going. Nothing you can do now but go drink you sorrows away. Oh and watch Chuck on NBC tonight of course! Keep your head up. You never know. I felt supper crappy about REG and I passed that one somehow!

Or when you come down to two choices and it comes down to what to do with something!

I sat for FAR on Monday afternoon for the 4th time! I passed the other three exams on the first try and now if I don't pass FAR this time I will start losing credit for the others. I switched over to Yaeger (from Becker) and I went into the exam feeling like I knew and acutally UNDERSTOOD a lot more than comapred to previous attempts. But, like always, you never know…. If I don't pass this time I don't know what I will do, I am so sick of this! I thought the first testlet was fairly straightforward but the second and third definetly took more of my time and the sims were pretty difficult too.

i took FAR on monday for the first time. after 10 weeks and nearly 300 hours of study, remind me why? haha. at first I thought I signed in for the wrong exam because the questions coming up in the first testlet were completely foreign to me. So after I reassured myself I was not in Wonderland, I just plugged on. i only know i got one question right for sure and it was probably one that didn't count. guess I just wait now until Feb 19th for the score, and start studying for REG now. don't lose hope people. we are in this together.

I am not sufficiently stuck on myself to list my scores on my signature.

claire – I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE. There was maybe one bond question and no consolidation at all. Both of those areas i didnt do well on last time and focused real hard on for this test. My first sim was incredibly easy but then my second one might as well have been written in french because i had no idea what they were talking about. I hope by some miracle i passed and can finally be done with this nightmare.

I took it on 1/20 (my first time sitting for any of the CPA exams) and had the same experience as you guys. I didn't notice my MC teslets getting any harder or easier, but that's before I found this website (yesterday) and had heard anything about that being possible, so I didn't pay any attention to it. And I had to have completely butchered my sims, which I was all but lost on. I didn't feel like the communication tabs were too bad though, but the rest of the sims were brutal. I gave myself close to 2 hours to do both and didn't even completely finish the 2nd one. Of course, I didn't study as much as I should have, but I did at the very least get through all the Becker lectures, try all the non-suplemental MC at least once, tried most of the sims at least once, and took both practice exams, so it's not like I blew it off completely. I did walk out of there feeling like I failed for sure, but after discovering this website and seeing so many people say the same thing about previous tests they've taken that they ended up passing, I feel like there's more hope now. And if I DID fail, at the very least I got through all the Becker material so studying the 2nd time around shouldn't be quite as rough!

Thank you for posting your experiences…however, please do not disclose specific topics encountered on any part of the exam. It makes my job easier b/c I have to go in and edit them out in keeping with the AICPA's rules.

    Thanks everyone,

The first two testlets were difficult. The third testlet seemed okay except I spent too much time on the first two, so I had to move pretty fast. Once I got to the simulations, I was running out of time. I also sat next to a girl who was literally banging on her keyboard. It was so loud even with the earmuffs. On top of being seated next to the crazy keyboard basher, I sat in desk number 13 and was given a key for locker number 13. Of course, I noticed after my test was over. The drew a blank on the last simulation.

I completely agree. I just sat for FAR yesterday and every testlet was impossible. I studied my ass off too..my second simulatiion was nearly impossible minus the WC. Some of the tabs seemed like they were missing the information needed to complete the problem (either that or I'm just an idiot) so I'm hoping that it was experimental…I also don't think anyone really feels good after taking FAR. Many of my colleages have taken FAR thinking they bombed it but somehow end up with an 80…hoping for a miracle here. Studying for this one was a serious pain in the ass.

I'm sitting for FAR in 9 days and I feel like screaming…this thing is a monster and I'm preparing myself for the good possibility I may have to take it again. Probably a defeatist attitude I know. The 2 feet of snow on the ground doesn't help my mood either.
