FAR CSOs – where do partnerships fit in?

I must be missing something here. I’m using the Wiley books and NINJA materials to study for FAR, but I like to check in with the AICPA CSOs to help make sure I’m not under- or over-emphasizing certain materials in my study plan. For instance, in Wiley, there is one module (of 14 total) on government and one module on nonprofits, but those two areas put together account for about 20% of the exam according to the CSOs, so I want to make sure I give them enough attention.

Here is my question. All of my materials include accounting for partnerships, but I’m not even seeing where those fit into the CSOs to see how much emphasis I should give them.

    https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/CPAExam/ExaminationContent/ContentAndSkills/DownloadableDocuments/CSOs-SSOs-Effective-Jan-2014.pdf

Any ideas? I must be overlooking something.

(And I know this is overly detailed– I get caught up on details like this sometimes. I’m also avoiding writing a paper. I have short-timer’s syndrome since this is my last class.)

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

The only little bit of partnership studying I did for FAR was whatever Jeff went over in the NINJA audio. I never did any MCQs or anything and it worked out ok for me. I think you might get one question on that, wouldn't spend too much time on it. The not for profit and governmental is far more important.

Kimboroni, don't underestimate these two areas. They might give you a brain freeze when you study but on the exam day, I guarantee you can pick up some easy points if you know them well.

Are you talking about government and nonprofits, huytuan? I definitely plan to pay attention to those.

But I'm still confused about where partnerships fit in– we do need to know them for FAR, right? Then why aren't they in the CSOs? They must be hiding.

Sorry, I meant government and nonprofits. Regarding partnerships, I believe they don't have standards for partnership. Whatever your materials cover comes from professional practices, not professional standards. You definitely should know it well. It might save you at the end of the day.

I think you can ignore Partnership for FAR (I think they are more tested in REG). It wasn't touched at all in CPAexcel's FAR section. But NFP and Gov Accounting, this is a must-know area.

CMA (Aug 2011), CFSA (Dec 2008), Philippine CPA (Nov 2004)
