@CPAWannaBe – Don't apologize; I appreciate your input – puts me on my toes and makes me dig in harder in my studying.

@tulip – Great to hear; glad it turned out good for you…hopefully the same for the rest of us in about a month.

@hopeful – Sounds like a great plan – I did the brain dump on BEC, and you are right – it helps a lot with time management. I also used the review button with BEC, moving through each testlet answering the easier questions first, then coming back for the more difficult questions.

In reality though – I expect this beast to be a real confidence shaker, regardless of test preparation or test-taking technique.

Ok, So i just took FAR today. Not really sure how I did. My second testlet was def harder than the 1st but the 3rd looked easier then the 2nd. The SIMS were OK. (not too easy or too hard).

Do you guys feel that I still have a chance of getting a passing score?

I just recently fail my AUD and REG and now have FAR coming up on Monday. I was more confident to take my other exams than I am for FAR. Should I just take it and let it be a practice exam or postpone it til Jan when I have a better understanding of the material?

I just took FAR today, and I must say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was def not easy, but it wasn't as horrific as anticipated. That is for the exam itself, however, bc there was a ridiculous chain of events leading up to my 8am exam that ended with not being able to find the (new) testing center and arriving with 2 minutes to spare, and thinking I left my NTS at home when I pulled out what I thought was my NTS and it was really the 2nd page that prints out with it. The essay on my 1st sim wasn't bad, but the 2nd one was awful…the 2nd one will probably be graded. The other tabs in the sims were on my weakest areas and I basically BS'd my way though them 🙁 One tab was on something that I knew, and I had the formula down pat, but they way the sim was set up was so weird. It didn't really make a lot of sense of why you would solve a formula in that way. I walked out of BEC #1 knowing that I bombed…in fact, I was shocked that I scored a 63. Today I walked out at least knowing that there's a chance for a 75. Although I walked out of BEC #2 feeling more confident than not that I passed and I got a 70. Who knows. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if my Christmas is going to be ruined the way that my summer was.

I have audit on Tuesday, so I will be spending Thanksgiving with Wiley and Becker. To top it off, I have to work on Friday, but I'm hoping that there aren't any managers there so I can study at my desk. I am out of days off, so I wasn't allowed to take the day off. My NTS expires on the 30th, so I didn't have a lot of options for audit since it's paid for.

Hey,

I'm taking FAR on Tuesday and am really nervous about this exam! Is governmental accounting a big chunk of it? I seem to be running out of time and am wondering how much time I should allocate to studying that in these last couple of days!

Also, any other suggestions about how I should study this last week before the exam would really help!

First off, new user here, and this support forum is AWESOME…. Call me dumb, but the saying definitely applies, “misery loves company” 🙂

Secondly, the brain dump sounds like a fantastic idea. I will most definitely be using that. Is there any other tips and tricks that you guys have come across?

I have FARS on Sunday and I am so nervous. I hate the fact that i feel like i have forgotten some of the stuff from the beginning chapters. Its rather frustrating, but i am confident in my abilities and my desire to pass (and not take IFRS) is strong. Thanks ahead of time for the tips!

Hey everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Need some help, took FAR in August and got a 64. Scored below average on everything except for the simulation. I was very surprised to see this as I was running out of time on my 2nd sim and what I wrote was a bunch of gibberish. Is it true that only one sim is graded?

And what is all this talk about IFRS? Is this a new change in 2011? I was so busy trying to studying for other parts that I have not taken the time to read up on the changes. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm in agony. Tomorrow is my test and I scored 80, 74 and 60 in Becker Progress test and final exam 1 and 2 after 3 month of study. I don't know what else to do. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be more relaxed after stop studying today at noon (my exam is tomorrow at !2:30). Pray for me, as I'll be confronting one of the biggest challenges of my life. I am taking FAR on Nov 30 and I am giving my best shot to tackle this exam. I will pray for you so that you will be calm and can focus on your exam tomorrow. Just remember that what ever you do, do your best and offer it to God to glorify his name. You can make it!

Thank you Suzette1, the test was not that bad (way easier than both Becker's final exams). The first simulation was Ok too, but the last one (OMG) was too long and in a topic where I have no idea. I ran-out of time and only completed the writing portion and other minor tabs on that simulation. Now, I am praying that's enough to pass, I just need a 75. Anyway, it's my last test and if I have to re-take it, hopefully not, it's going to be soon. Thank you for your prayers, I studied for 2 1/2 month for this test with Becker 2010 version, and I did all the problems twice, prepared my own notes and flashcards, read the book, etc. However,at the end I was discouraged for the poor performance on Becker's final tests (Mid 70's exam 1 and low 60's exam 2). In my other sections, Becker's final exams were not a good predictor of my final scores on the real exam either. I remember. I scored in Becker's: REG 85, Audit 95 and BEC low 70's but the results turn around differently. Now, I am waiting if can enjoy Christmas with peace of mind, let's see.

I had some health issues and had to reschedule my 11/30 FAR test into Jan 2011 so I've ordered the 2011 Becker materials just so I can see what the changes look like. I also found I did not pass BEC so will have to take that in Feb and am debating on what review to do. I found Becker was not good for BEC, at least not for me, so I had used Yaeger HS and Lambers to supplement but hate the thought of paying more money for basically the same program.

I took my exam on Nov 11, and somehow my score was posted today (just randomly checked by chance). I am now finished with these exams! Good luck to those still in process!!! Stick with it and you'll be finished before you know it!
