Ok so I started reviewing for FAR this week. Using Becker, I am up to F1-2. This is theory and fairly easy. I have also started going through cpareviewforfree. The first topic on that site is Bonds. All the questions on bonds have been looonngggg questions. Much longer than any I have seen reviewing for BEC. So my question is; How does the topic of bonds fare against the other many topics, in difficulty level?

The questions on bonds are not impossible but I definately cannot guess the answers the way I could have while reviewing for BEC.

Bonds are fairly straight forward. There are many tougher topics in FAR such as EPS crap.

AUD - 95, BEC - 85
REG - 85, Rawrrrrrr FAR - 88
Used Becker for all sections.

Once you go over Bonds a couple times its not too bad. I agree with T-Rex on the EPS.

Bonds are the least of your problems.

I'll be the oddball. Bonds have forever been the toughest topic in FAR for me. I can do governmental in my sleep, cash flow statements are a breeze, EPS I finally have down, but bonds are always tricky for me.

So, in conclusion, it's all hard 🙂

Bonds are a lengthy portion of one of the Becker sections, but really what is the ‘hardest' part about bonds is that they show up in MANY other areas of financial accounting. Specifically, the time value of money (and/or discounted cash flows) will show up in numerous places during your review. One good example is for (capital) leases.
