FAR – any advice?

    Hi all,

Im new to this forum, but I have found it to be a great place to gather experiences since we all know how tough this can be. Im fairly new to the whole process. I decided to take REG first. I began to study for REG in early JAN and took the exam in late FEB. I found out a week or so ago that I passed and couldn’t be happier. As soon as I found out I passed, I decided to tackle FAR and try to get it out of the way, but after studying for a few days, i am already semi-overwhelmed with all the material that I went over and will have to go over in the next month or so. I thought that without a test date, I might slack off, so I scheduled my exam for the end of May giving me about 2 and a half months to study and hopefully help me stick to a good study schedule. Do you think this is enough in general? I am using Kaplan since Kaplan worked for me when I took REG, but maybe I should use something else to help me take in all the info?

What do you guys think? By the way, did anyone here use Kaplan at all? I found it to be good for REG, but so far, not 100% impressed with FAR (but then again i just started a week ago so maybe ill give it some more time)

I feel like an idiot responding because I have not passed FAR or REG but since no one else has, I will give it a shot.

From what I have heard from others, most people study 6-8 weeks for FAR. I have not heard/read about people using FAR for studying. If you are in doubt buy the Ninja notes. It helps bring everything together.

    Hope this helps a little…

Same position as you. I'm studying for 2months for FAR…maybe too much considering I'm not even working, but I'm very slow and take time to learn…I'm using Becker and though I'm bit overwhelmed, it's starting to make sense.

I'm listen to lectures by section, read book, do its MCQs, and repeat that for the entire chapter. Then I'll read the book again, and do all the MCQs again. Obviously, making lots of notes in the way.

I'm going to supplement with Wiley Test bank as it helped a lot for REG.

Also, check out my OP “overwhelmed w/ FAR” where few more people have responded, may be useful!

Good Luck to all of us studying for FAR!
