i’m taking FAR soon and i feel like i’m in such a bad place and honestly don’t know what to do with myself. i’ve been studying for about a month now, but i’m still only on F3. i scheduled my exam for 12/1, but at the rate i’m going, i don’t know if i’ll be ready. i’ve just been finding it really difficult to get down and focus. plus, i’ve been working full-time, so getting down to study hasn’t been easy. i guess what i want to know, is do y’all think it’s possible to get these stupid chapters done in less than a month? do you have any advice? thoughts?

I am testing on Nov 7th. I've been using Wiley exclusively for all my tests and I started studying for FAR in June!

I felt similar to you a while back. Just keep at it. It's a lot of material so it's going to take longer then the other sections to review everything. You need to resign yourself to that fact. There is a lot of material in this section that isn't covered in a BS Accounting program and most of the material is more in depth than anything from school so try not to stress on the time and keep moving forward.

I slowly worked through all the study material with my main focus being on refreshing my memory or familiarizing myself with the concepts. I didn't concern myself with question scores and only worried about making it familiar. After I completed the books/lectures/homework questions, I took a week off then started a regiment of doing as many questions as possible daily. As I worked through the questions I focus in on my weak areas by reading up on the topic in my study software or searching Google for different perspectives.

As of this week I've completed over 1500 questions using the Wiley app, 1200 using the test bank and completed all the questions in the course. I've finished about 60% of the SIMS. I'm averaging about 75-80% correct on all three platforms so who knows if I'll pass but the questions look and feel familiar to me today. No topic or questions shocks me or seems foreign and that is the point I was at with the other tests when I passed.

So keep going, doing as many questions per day as possible. Make them so familiar that you know exactly what the question wants you to do even if you have forgotten how to do it…at that point you can solve the majority of the problems and make very good educated guesses when you've forgotten something.

    Good luck! 🙂

I think I studied in total 8 weeks for FAR and that was a bit much. The last month, I literally kept grinding out MCQs. So I would leave enough time for those. It's hard to say on chapters, because I do know people who study well with just MCQs.

I would like to leave about 3 weeks for MCQs bc I want to leave a good amount of time so I can review the incorrect ones. However, if you're on a time grind, just grind them out and take note on the incorrect ones on the way there. I did close to at least 3000 MCQs for FAR (roger and ninja).

I want to say, since the change is coming SO soon. I would literally just grind it out. Keep doing MCQs and TAKE VERY DETAILED NOTES. Then rewrite them later. It'll help a lot.

I don't use Becker so I don't know how many chapters you have left. Though I do know that once you finished ALL the chapters, it ALL comes together. Know your journal entries and practice them during MCQ sessions. So invaluable because you ARE BOUND to get a journal entry sim.

Yes, FAR is doable in a month. I'm all done but come back here occasionally because I remember how hard this process is. I didn't exactly plan on it, but I passed FAR in 20 days, using Roger's program. In a way, I think the short window for me was a blessing because it forced me to not get bogged down in the detail. FAR has the most material, but that's a good thing – there's not enough time/questions for you to be asked the specifics about everything. I highly recommend the outline issued by the AICPA (I think) that shows approximate percentages by section. That was my bible to help me decide if I should spend a bit more time on something vs. moving on. On the handful of topics that I got stuck on, slowing down on questions to understand WHY an answer is correct also helped. Good luck!

I would purchase the Ninja Plus videos. With 3 weeks left before my exam, I finished all my Wiley lectures but I didn't really feel good about it. I decided to buy the videos. I watched each one and took notes. I'm glad I did. I felt ready for the test and was rewarded and passed with my highest score so far. Bob Monnette was a great lecturer and had numerous tips on how to remember things. It really made me feel ready for the exam.
