Failed REG for the 2nd Time and Feeling Horrible

I studied for six weeks for the first try, and four weeks of review for the second try and I still failed. I’m starting to feel so demotivated because I’ve given up spending time with friends and family to study for these exams, to only see failing scores. I’m starting to lose confidence and am starting to feel depressed 🙁

SFMLE, you are soooo close, please keep trying! Don't give up now, there is a big reward waiting for you. I know how discouraging you may get but have faith with yourself and you will surely pass! You have such a high score on BEC and AUD, please don't give up now.

    REG – 73, 78

first time 63, second time 72, your third time should be an 81 with 2-4 weeks of studying, if the pattern continues. Keep it up because the only thing that sucks more than what you have to do to pass is what will happen after you give up. The only easy day was yesterday.

REG took me 3 times to pass. First time a 70, second time a 67, third time an 82. I was feeling very discouraged as well. I passed Audit and FAR on my first try but could not tackle REG. I really think you will get it next time!

Thank you guys for all of the encouragement and support, I don't know what I would do without this forum! The thought of having to study for it again is dreadful! I'm studying for FAR right now and wish I had taken it before REG because it seems like I would have grasped some concepts a lot better.

I'm in the same boat. I was shocked when I got slapped in the face with another 71. I actually felt somewhat confident, and was sure I nailed it. Getting the same score is deflating and hard to swallow. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Third time @ AUD really got me down at first. THEN I got downright angry and whopped it on the 3rd try!!

I'm done with all exams now, SO worth it! Hang in there!

    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!

I studied around 12 weeks to pass it. It looks like another 4-6 weeks of hard studying should get you there.

I'm in the same boat. At least you have passed an exam. I have taken FAR, AUD and REG and failed them all. I cried all day yesterday, but today I continue to study for my Audit retake. I get so nervous when I get to the SIMS and I lose all memory and confidence. You can do this! We must not stop!

@SMLFE: Don't give up! However, I would highly recommend u to pay more attention to the tiny details of tax, cuz those stuff are heavily tested in the REG Sim. Just keep trying, I am sure u will pass it forsure next time u take the exam!

@comeoncpa: I like ur spirit, u will make it through one day!

Think I might try a live final review from Becker to get over the hump. Anyone ever taken one? It's $250 and they offer one the last day of March…I could take the exam again the first day of the new testing window.

REG took me three tries as well. My scores were 71, 68, 85. Just hang in there… a lot of us have failed and felt like giving up. You can make it through.

And since I've received my CPA license, not a single person has asked me about my scores.

@Pistol Pete – we will get through this together… we are so close!! If you have any study tips let me know… I used Becker and supplemented with Wiley online test bank the second time but think I could have gone through more MCQs

@mla1169 – I'm definitely quite angry that REG has defeated me two times now, so I'm going to go into the nex exam and have full confidence… of course I'll make sure to study more so that I actually DO have the right to have full confidence lol

@Count It and CPA_Rookie – great advice regarding timing, I guess I need to really be able to devote more time to grasp the super crazy details of taxation that show up on the SIMS

@dreambigCPA – isn't is such a disappointment to be so close yet dreading reviewing everything again? Ugh… good luck with FAR!! I'm about halfway there (taking it 2/29) and so far I feel very comfortable with the material 🙂

@comeoncpa – I almost cried this morning at work just thinking about having to take REG again. I thought that the light at the end of the tunnel was so close, but it got pushed back and I'm just dying to have my life back. I know how you feel about losing confidence, but keep in mind that for the SIMS, you can utilize the research tab to clarify things you don't know. That's one hard lesson I've learned after failing REG two times… I need to not only know that the research tab is there to help me but also to also be able to find the proper information quickly. I think I'm going to practice looking up random topics so that I know how information is indexed a little better. I also think that BEC writing portion is so much more manageable because it mainly tests your ability to write correspondence with proper grammar versus knowing very detailed info about the topics, so when you take BEC don't be too stressed about that part 🙂

@SFMLE, I can definitely relate, and feel your pain :/ I took REG three times… 58 -59- 80. Third time will be a charm for you. I promise. Study like you've never studied before. I shed a lot of tears over REG… Give yourself some time to recover, then go back for REG with a vengeance!!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
