FAILED FAR- NEED ADVICE

Hi guys. I just found out that I failed the FAR section. I took FAR 8/28/12

I’m already one week into studying for the next section, which is AUD. (I’m using BECKER)

I’m wondering if I should stop studying for AUD (since I’m not that far into the material) and start re-studying for FAR, or if I should just continue to study for AUD and retake FAR later.

I start working full time in mid october and really wanted to get FAR out of the way before I start.

If restudying for FAR is recommended, how much time of restudying do you recommend, and how should I spend my time restudying the material. i.e re-listening to all lectures or just reviewing material/ redoing all homework or just doing lots of progress test. etc

    Any advice/tips would be helpful.

Feeling pretty disappointed and devastated about it.

    Thanks!

How badly did you bomb it? If you scored 70-74, I think you have plenty of time to take it before you start your job. Maybe schedule your test about 3 days before you start your job, that way you have some time to catch up on sleep, lose a few lbs (if needed), and just have an overall healthy/useful aspect on your 1st day of work. As far as re-studying, it's always recommended to study as if it's your first time. But this time, you really need to go HAM on the materials. Don't cut any corners. Don't skip anything. Trust Becker, you're in good hands, just do exactly what they tell you.

Thank you for your reply. I got a 69 on it..

Becker recommends about 6-7 weeks to study if it's your first time.. and I plan on giving myself about 5 weeks to restudy the material. What do you think about that time frame?

5 weeks is ok. Organize your schedule so that you have at least 1 full week of review. Consider buying the NINJA notes and/or the Wiley TB as supplments if you have the need for extra practice. Practice simulations too, not just mcqs.

Definitely restudy for FAR. You've invested too much time to let the knowledge slip from your mind. A score of 69 shows you have a general understanding of the material but may need to refine that understanding(like when there are exceptions to general rules or IFRS vs GAAP etc).

Also, I wouldn't look too deep into your actual test evaluation and restudy as if starting from scratch. Since you have a foundation from your previous attempt, 5 weeks should be enough time to go through the material and review. Whatever you do though, don't lose hope and know that you have the full support of this community behind you. GL!

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. Truly appreciate it! I have decided to restudy for the exam. Unfortunately, here in WA we don't get a test evaluation report. We just get our score and that's it.

    Thanks again!
