i took the FAR exam in Jan and failed it with a score of 69%. I’m very depressed; sacrificed sleep, social life..everything!!! I’ve been studying day and night for this since the last week of October, 2013. I’ve took a couple of progress every two chapters and did the practice exams. I scored in 50s in the second practice exam. Except for the first chapter H.W., my scores were lesser than 80%. What should I do now?

I’m working now, so can someone maybe tell me how many hrs. I should put into studying for this damn exam.

Lily: Are you using the Ninja Notes? Write your fact nuggets from MCQs in the margin…read them every chance you get and before bed each night…fall asleep with Jeff lecturing you in your ear… do flashcards every time you have 5 minutes and understand why one answer is correct AND why the other three are wrong. Notice similarities in the wrong answers and why the right one is different..for example:

Which one of the following is a fruit?

    A. horse

    B. dog

    C. apple

    D. elephant

I know that is a over simplified example but that trick can help ALOT on exam day. Also, take it back to basics and really learn those. For example, if you truly understand BEPS…DEPS will follow because they are basically (DEPS builds on the BEPS formula) the same.

As I've said before on this forum…a 69 is only a failure if you quit…when you restudy..it is a FOUNDATION!!!

    Good luck.

Thx guys! I will destroy audit. I might even get 79 :O!!

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Well, some of my friends actually noticed I got officially licensed last week…..

Congrats on passing FAR. Good luck with AUD.

I've been busy working from home this week on the aged audit I inherited from other auditors and I'll be in OC/LA next week, so I won't be on here much either.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Good job, Study Monk. My question was more of a formality. I was sure you passed. Good luck on the next hurdle.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

This is what my score report says:

    Framework and Standards: Comparable

    Financial Statement Accounts: Comparable

    Specific Transactions/Events: WEAKER!!!

I believe I didn't practice chapter 2 well. Does Chapter 2 fall in the category of “Specific Transactions/Events”?

Can someone tell me to which of the above categories, do the chapters 1-10 belong?
