Failed FAR after months of studying

I just got my FAR score and let me just say that I will be taking it again in April. I used Kaplan and I felt like it was not in depth enough. I picked up the 2012 Wiley book and I am going to use that along with NINJA notes. BTW there was alot of IFRS on my exam for those who are wondering if they are testing it much. Any suggestions for studying to get through this time would be appreciated.

Sorry you didn't pass, but it's great you are already looking forward and not back 🙂

Wiley and NINJA is definitely a good start. I would also suggest Yaeger CRAM if you can afford it. They do a good job explaining the concepts so you are learning them instead of just memorizing. I think the key for me for FAR was to go through the material a few times. I was still pretty lost after my first time through, so you may need to watch lectures, read chapters, etc. more than once or twice.

    Good luck!

I used Becker and Wiley. For me, I make sure all the journal entries make sense and stick to my head. I agree with apbandj on review the material a few times. Everytime I reviewed, something new became uncleared. Review again until to the point where you see a word” pension” you know anything about that especially the difficult part to you. I spent a lot of time on the last few chapters: stocks, pension, and lease. But the earlier chapters like consolidation, AR, and basic framework concepts (IFRS) are also important. Practice enough sims so you can build a good confidence level. I think no sims will be identical to what we practice with but at least the confidence will guide you through. Good luck!
