    Hi all,

I took FAR yesterday. It was my last section of the CPA exam. I have passed the other 3 on the first try, but I’m not so sure I’ll be that lucky this time. I;m trying not to think this way and to be more positive, but after my experience in the yesterday, I’m just not sure.

The first testlet of the MCQ was moderate in difficulty – some super easy questions, others more difficult. My experience on the second MCQ testlet was horrible. It was much harder. it was no surprise when my third testlet decreased in difficulty. I rushed through my 3rd testlet too because I wanted to leave ample time for the sims, so I’m sure I made careless mistakes on the 3rd testlet too.

When I got my sims tab, I was disappointed to find NONE of them on topis that I knew really well. However, I think that I hit the lotto with the research part – I was lucky to get 2 (you either get 1 or 2, I think this is a well-known fact so I’m not violating any confidentiality rules) and I think I was able to find the correct answers. For the other ones, however, i’m not as confident about. You know how there might be multiple methods of doing something, and you feel good about one method but not so much about the other? And then you get the method that you’re not that good at? That’s what happened, and it was frustrating. And the way that the information was presented was really frustrating as well. Then there was another Sim that I pretty much just guessed that. Sigh.

By the time I get my score I will already have started my job. Trying to keep positive and tell myself that even if I do have to re-take it, it’ll be alright! Trying to have faith.

I feel like the exam was easier to pass in 2010 and years before. 10% written (basically easy points) and two sims that people often said they would leave lots of it blank and still pass. If MCQ was your strong point, you had a good chance of passing. Now with the new exam, sims being 40% of your score and them not being presented that well, it’s much harder. Even if you rock the MCQ, you could still fail, with the new exam.

Anybody care to share their experience in FAR this year?

Hey ur exp sounds like mine I posted in Feb…mcqs were easy, hard, easy. Rushed thru the third testlet to take a break and have 2 hrs for sims to keep on track. I knew 3 sims well and nailed the research, guessed on the other three. Finished with 45 min left and reviewed all my answers and left with 30 min to go…Walked out thinking I got a 68-80…borderline for sure.

    Got my 79 hope u get it.too.
