Ever take a day off from studying?

So I’ve been studying pretty much non-stop for BEC. I’ve decided to take today off from studying to give my brain a rest. OK, I have to admit that it was my husband’s idea. Anyone ever do the same? I am watching episodes of my favorite show and am spending time with hubby and pooch. Probably will go out and do something fun. Then tomorrow through Friday, I’ll continue to study harder than ever. I’m taking BEC on Saturday. Best of luck to all of us test takers in Q1!!

Yes, absolutely! I took quite a few days off during my studies and I can honestly say that they did more good than harm. Your brain and will power can only take so much, you're only human after all. Take today to recharge your batteries and get a running start tomorrow.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

I'm all for it too. I think what hurt my REG exam was that I took it right after both AUD and FAR back to back. By the time I reached REG, my brain shut down for the season. LOL. Not even what everyone said basic concepts could even get from my eyes to my brain.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

I never take a day off, can't stop studying, the guilt of not studying is a killer. I am very worried about my BEC on 1-17, I had some slight improvement in weak areas. I cant even sleep (hence my user name) I try to solve problems all night. I didnt feel this way with REG,but BEC is tough on mind since it's such a jumble of topics.

@Givemesleep, I can completely understand with guilt. Even on off days, I ended up at the very least listening to lectures before going to bed. Definitely try to give yourself at least a few hours off and work on your sleep habits, otherwise I'll crash and burn. I can't stress just how important rest is in this process. You can really hurt your chances of passing and, more importantly, do your health serious harm if you don't allow yourself to relax properly.

Try not to panic too much about BEC, it is a huge jumble of topics, but nothing insurmountable. If you are comfortable with corporate governance, COSO, cost accounting and variance analysis, you can take BEC down without a hitch. I focused intensely on those topics in the 2 weeks leading up to the exam.

thanks CasiaS – cost and variances is what I am struggleing with, the rest is fine. Corporate G and COSO seem easy to me. I am pounding my two weak topics the next two weeks even taking time off from work to do so. Thanks for the encouragement.

@Tootsie YES I took all of yesterday off. I just couldn't take it anymore. I've been off work since 12/23 so not only am I studying, I'm practically studying all day. It was so nice not to be staring down the computer and my notes. No guilt at all, but I did dream about carrybacks and carryforwards all night last night. Enjoy your day off!

    AUD: 92 (10/2011)
    BEC: 82 (7/2011)
    FAR: 55 (8/2010); 88 (8/2011)
    REG: 62 (8/2009); 87 (1/7/12)
    DONE!

I did for Christmas and New Years. I had never done this before. It was great to have the time off, but I am worried that maybe it did more harm than good. Well, I am going to crack the books and will find out soon enough. 😉

@Tootsie–good luck with BEC and hope you enjoyed your day off!!!

i have taken about %18 percent of total days available to study off. that is too high, and largely because of laziness/excuses. that being said, going non stop is just not healthy. marathon runners do not run 20 miles a day, 7 days a week. professional athletes do not work out 7 days a week in the offseason. there is nothing to feel guilty about.

I felt weird not studying yesterday. It was nice to have a day off, but it's like I missed studying. Am back to studying now.

Has anyone thought how different it will be when we don't have to study? I think I will miss it.
