I’m in florida and under the state liscencing website…as long as you have your name and social security number (your employer will have access to it) the can see how many times you attempted and failed each section.

for some reason i was under the impression people can only see if you are liscenced or not……NOT how many times and the dates when you failed each exam. 🙁

this kinda dissapoints me because i will know that every job i apply to in the future can look up that i struggled so much with the exam and question my knowledge.

If you want a good book – check out “Mindset”.

There are 2 mindsets – Growth and Fixed.

    It's relevant to this topic.

Circumstances is the key in making such hiring decisions. Passing all parts on the first try in very good, however, having a few failures but finally passing is equally important too.

Would the person who passed all 4 parts the first time still had the fight to continue as the other person who failed a few times? There are other issues as well good test taker vs bad test taker. From a personnal perspective I failed FAR a few times but have over 3.5 GPA in both undergrad and grad school. X passed all 4 parts first time but has lower GPA. X has no children, not married, lived with parents. I have children, married, hectic job schedule. So passing the CPA exam after Y times should not be the deciding. There could be other circumstances that affects the individual performance as well.

Not take anything away from the person who passed all parts the first time, but it should not be the deciding factor to hire one of the two passing candidates

I think the worry about exam history is overblown.

If they have a higher standard than the AICPA – so be it…that's their right as a company…there will be other opportunities if that's a road block.
