I just passed my second part and was advised to schedule FAR for November even though I don’t really have enough time, at least I believe, to study to pass. The next time I’ll be able to take it, due to upcoming insanity/demanding pace at work, is February. The suggestion was to take it in November because it’s a very difficult part and at least it will give me an opportunity to see what the exam is like, therefore increasing the chances I’ll pass in February. I was also thinking it will keep me studying even though February is a while away.

Any thoughts on this strategy?

If you schedule at the end of Nov you've got 2 months to study. Not clear exactly on how that wouldn't be enough time. I did it in about 8 weeks (you have closer to 10) and really didn't have more than 2 hours on weekdays and 3-4 on weekends to study.

I just did this with FAR last month. I wanted to sit in the Q3 testing window but was obviously not going to be ready. But I sat anyway. Got a 70! It's nothing more than expensive practice. If $250 doesn't break your bank, it's worth a shot (in my opinion). I'm taking FAR “for real” Oct 20

My NTS is expiring Oct 17th so i'm going to go ahead and take FAR that day even though I know I won't be ready. I'm still going to use every available second to study after AUD next Thursday just to give myself a chance. If my NTS wasn't expiring there is no way i'd take it if I weren't ready. Total waste of money.
