I just begin to study FAR. I understand the concept, but I still can’t get the answers right because the questions are very hard to understand. Does anyone have this issue? Any trick to solve it? Thanks

    FAR: End of April
    AUD:
    REG:
    BEC:

The answers are in the book. All you need is to be patient and try to understand it.

I am also studying FAR and I have to say that the best thing I have done is wait to do the MCQs until I have gone over the material several times. Many of the questions I weren't getting is because I didn't really understand the material yet. So I have read the book, taken lots of notes, incorporated those notes in with the Ninja Notes, and listened to the audio for weeks. I am not starting to rewrite my notes and after I rewrite each section, only then do I start working on MCQs for that section. I understand them much better now than when I first started studying and working on questions at the same time. Really learning the material first is the key. I had the same problem with audit. I started quizzing too soon.

Just do about 1000 more and you'll start to get it. I've always had an issue with how complicated they can make the questions in a review course. I spend too much time trying to figure out what they're asking instead of thinking about the concept is

    REG - 80 (2/28/13)
    AUD - 68 (5/24/13), 84 (7/11/13)
    BEC - 83 (8/29/13)
    FAR - 70 (12/04/13) 80 (2/10/14)

Some of FAR's questions were really hard at first but if you do them multiple times you will start to understand them.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I am having the same issues when it comes to understanding the questions I figured out that if you start by reading the last sentence it provide some guidance into what is being asked. I am doing the multiple choice that are part of my reading and note taking and if I get it wrong I just try to why I got it wrong. I am in the very early phase of my studying so I not have a ton of experience with multiple choices but this is what I've done so far

    FAR: April or May 2014
    AUD:
    REG:
    BEC:
    Scared: 100

FAR first and only attempt: 2014 Wiley textbook, 10 Pt Combo, and WTB

I only get one try to have to give it my all and try to get 75 on my first go around.

-The only thing that stands between you and what you want out of life is the will to try and the faith to believe it's possible.

The MCQ's on exam day, even those with numbers, look for your knowledge of a particular concept more than your calc skills. If you don't know what to pull from a set of facts you're going to be adding and diving by zero until you run out of time. Once it clicks… it clicks and you can move through them easily. I get really annoyed with questions that are five, six lines long and the answer is either ONE number or the sum of two. Retained earnings for consolidations for example..scary looking but the answer is simple.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

    1. Determine what the objective of the question is (theory or calculation)

    2. Refer to your study materials or notes to determine the proper steps from the examples provided in which to solve the problem

    3. Re-perform calculation steps per the answer compared to your answers to identify gaps in understanding

    4. Re-read the question to indentify key words that require you include or exclude pieces of data, refer to specific data, or otherwise take action.

5.Remember to read questions slowly and carefully and remember that all information provided may or may not be used or you may have to solve for missing information.

    Hope this helps.
