Didn't pass FAR…What would you do?

    So, I didn’t pass FAR. I’m supposed to sit for BEC next Wednesday and I’m kind of feeling like maybe I should push it back. I’m sure this has happened to a few of you so what are your thoughts, should I:

    a) Reschedule BEC for the first week of July (Total study time for BEC, 3.5 weeks, full-time, everyday)

    b) Go take BEC and move back to FAR without knowing if I passed BEC

    c) Stop studying BEC and move back to FAR so that I can re-take Week 1 or 2 of July and then take BEC in August

    Ahh! I just don’t want to have to repeat ANOTHER exam. I got my first fail out of the way and I really don’t want to do it again…

    Here is what I would do (remember that my experience is SUPER limited, having only my review materials in hand and not having taken a single section). Take BEC as scheduled- you are SO close. BEC I am actually sort of looking forward to, because I feel like I will OWN that test, but maybe its different for you. Regardless if you have studied keep on moving forward.

    Now this is my plan and it may be a fools plan and I probably won't be able to stick to it: but I have decided not to check my scores until I have my last test finished. My FAR score will come out just as I'm about to take AUD and my REG score will come out just before I take BEC. I'm not going to depress myself and slow my studying in case I fail.

    So in short- I would reschedule FAR now. If your BEC score is available before you take FAR don't check it.

    EEL, I am sorry about the sad news. Since this is your first exam, I would push BEC back and tack FAR again just because FAR is fresh in your mind. You want to strike again while the Iron is hot. This is what I would do at least.

    depends, are you ready for BEC? if so, then take it.

    if not, jump right back to FAR and schedule it at the beginning of the window and schedule BEC at the end

    don't let not passing discourage you, you can do it!

    good luck!

    BEC-60's,60's,69,71,76*,78
    FAR-67,66,65,79
    AUD-54,60's,65,83*,69,80

    DONE

    Thanks everybody.

    @nolifecpa, I'm feeling less confident with BEC after this FAR score……I could improve a lot, I'll just say that.

    @HomeStretch, how did you do?!

    I am in California, EEL. and it is driving me up the walls. I literally want to drive to Sacramento to demand that they let me see my score.

    Let me tell you this, I am never, ever, EVER, taking a test at the beginning of a testing window EVER again. I would like the time that I took the test and when I get my score to be as short as possible, so I wouldn't have to relearn things if I forget them. And so that I would minimize the agonizing days of waiting.

    Home stretch…

    Use this method of testing

    Jan/ feb are testing windows, so take the test on jan1st ( provided you studied the whole of decemebr, since its a black month). Once you are done on Jan1st, then study 2 months and take another test on Feb28th. This way you can knock off 2 tests in 1 window.

    Keep in mind that you don't have to decide today. I wouldn't make any decision over the next day or two so you can make sure your emotions are in check and make the right decision for you.

    If you are ready (or feel that you will be on test day), take BEC. It is the freshest on your mind. Once you take it, you can decide what to do next. I think if I were you, I would go ahead and take BEC then dive right back in to FAR for the retake in July.

    Just take it one step at a time and try not to stress too much on things you don't absolutely have to decide today. This test can make you crazy.

    Actually, yea, probably should listen to LittleMoe. I don't know how far you are in BEC, so it might be better to take that first.

    But to answer your question,if I didn't pass FAR. I would probably set myself on fire and burn to death. It really is easier dying like this than retaking FAR.

    I think you already studied for BEC just go w/ this because if you go back to FAR, you'll forget the stuff that you've been studying for bec. It's kinda waste of time. Just try to cram hardcore now until you take bec then go back to far.

    FAR 5/14 88 PASSED!
    REG 7/13 74 :((((((((....! I cant believe it!!!! I studied so hard...
    REG retake 11/29 -> 89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BEC 10/11/12 -> 84!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AUD 10/25/12 -> 95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm DONE! OMG 8 months of hard work.

    I SHALL PASS. BECAUSE IT'S ME, SO EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!

    @LittleMoe, thanks for the advice. This exam IS making me crazy so I definitely think I'll take the rest of today and tomorrow to decide what's best.

    @HomeStretch, LOL! Thanks for the laugh (didn't think that was possible today) BEC exam is next week and I'm studying for 3.5 weeks total (full-time) so there's a lot of info in my brain right now. Not sure that it's wise to walk away from BEC completely. I think rescheduling it for July 1st or braving it out next week are my best options.

    Just brave it out. You'll do great. You don't want to have to keep studying it for another month +.

    @ Home Stretch- no matches for you. HAHAHAH

    EELCPA – so so so sorry you didn't pass FAR 🙁 I've been checking to see how you all did that didn't get your FAR scores in the last release.

    If it were me, I'd take a shot at BEC. You'll probably get a good portion of the 30 pts for the writing section. So you only have to rack up another 45. Especially if you can't retake FAR till 7/1 – is it really going to help that much to start studying a week early? Particularly if it means missing the opportunity to pass BEC?

    Think you're just feeling bummed & defeated and can't stomach the prospect of failing another. It's no embarassment to fail one of these things. I must have studied like 250+ hrs for FAR and all I was doing otherwise was finishing my MACC.

    Hope this helps and keep your chin up!!

    A - 5/25/12, 87

    what did you score on FAR? If you are borderline then I would take it 7/1. If not, I would pass BEC and take FAR mid july and another section 8/31. So either way I would sit for BEC.

    Using Becker, Ninja Notes, and CpaReviewForFree

    FAR - 87 (2/17)
    REG - 89 (4/21)
    AUD - 89 (5/31)
    BEC - 89 (7/11)
