ivaParticipantHi guys,
My FAR experience was as follows: I felt really prepared for the exam, but had not timed myself. I was slow on the questions and I knew it.
I started the exam and I felt the MCs were really hard. I felt good about my answers, though.
I started the SIMs with too little time, I wrote my memos (one was on a subject I wasn't very well prepared for) and did the research, I also did some other stuff on one of the sims. It was hard, though, so I am not sure what I answered.
I left the room, went outside behind the testing center and started crying. After some trouble with the score release in my state (about 2 1/2 months waiting), I got my 88. As people were saying, anything is possible. It's graded on a curve, so there's always a chance.
I took REG this month and felt the MCs were horrible, covering subjects that were not very well presented in either of two textbooks. I am hopeful, though. It seems that nobody found REG particularly easy.
Good luck to all!

RinaLParticipantI just took the REG exam yesterday. Pretty crazy day. I was scheduled to test at 8:30 am and got to the test center at 7:45 am. I decided to stay in my car and study a little more. Finally, went in at 8:15 am to discover I had forgotten my NTS! AHHHH! I was really lucky because I told the woman that I live 15 minutes away and asked her if it would be okay if I went to pick it up from my house and come right back. She said it would be fine. Thank G-D! So I rushed home and back (so glad I didn't get a ticket) and started my exam at 8:50 am.
Anyway, prepared with Becker and felt very confident about the material. The multiple choice felt difficult, but I also felt like I knew the material enough to answer most correctly. Becker says to leave 25-30 minutes for the simulations. This is not enough! I had 58 minutes on the clock when I started my simulations. Finished the first one (it was hard). Then had 18 minutes to complete the second one. I started the first simulation tab and realized I had 10 minutes left and decided to quickly write my communication. After writing that I rushed to the research tab and quickly found the answer (correct I think). Then I went back and had 10 seconds left to click one more drop down answer. Basically I think I only did about 50-60 percent of simulation tab and not sure how I did on whatever I did complete on the tab since my heart was palpitating and I was rushing.
To make a long story short, I found this forum and many of your posts really helped cheer me up and give me hope. I thought I would have to basically do perfect on the MCQ to salvage not finishing my second simulation. Looks like I might have a chance to pass after all.
The worst part about this exam is the time constraint. I knew and felt confident about the material, but the time was so constrained that I wasn't able to apply that knowledge completely. Oh well.
I took AUD and FAR last month so I should be getting my scores shortly. I felt that AUD was not bad at all and left with like 30 minutes left on the clock having finished everything. FAR was definitely more difficult than AUD, but I managed my time well enough to finish it. After I left the testing center, I felt like it could go either way. It's hard to feel confident about an exam like FAR because there's just so much room for error.
As for BEC, I'm going to start studying for that now and hopefully take it by the end of August.

AnonymousInactiveWhat a relief it is to read these posts. I took FAR a few days ago and felt extremely confident about passing until I got to the simulations. I had seconds to spare when I finished the sims but I'm pretty sure I got 80% (which means I have control!) of both simulations wrong (excluding research/memo).
Here's hoping for a passing grade.

whonis2002ParticipantAnna either your gifted with being able to spot the right answers or you actually had an Angel (if you believe in Angels) guiding you all the way through the FAR exam . Its virtually impossible to pass with approach you took. I must say you are very lucky to have crashed the beast that way. I wish I had that kind of luck š

AnonymousInactiveChristian I did finish my AUD Sims but did poorly on the, as well as my WC and still passed. SO its like I didn't finish them. You can still pass on my score report I got stronger on everything but the SIMS/WC. As long as you have those MCs nailed down (remember hard is worth more points) then you can still pass.

AnonymousInactiveDo you remeber how did you scored on the final exams?
August 12, 2010 at 6:39 pm #637706
AnonymousInactiveNO, I'm guessing good though because I knew the MCs and I never practiced the SIMS or WC, wish I should have though, I saw a SIM just like the practice one.
Now, I did fail my first chance at AUD, did not do too hot on the MCs and bad on the WC (I left it blank :(, I didn't know about this site back then), and not sure about the SIMS
Then the second time around I hit the books hard studied like crazy, did well on the MCs but not the SIMS/WC. I really think if you can do good the MCs you can make up points that you might miss on the SIMS/WC. MCs IMHO is where they test your knowledge.

whonis2002ParticipantUnreal at least you had control am wondering if am going to have that control on 8/31 š

whonis2002ParticipantBobbins even if you guessed through alot of questions in your FAR exam which I find hard to believe…congs for successfully completing your CPA review program. Thats something nobody will ever take away from you no matter how prepared you where for the exam. As Johnny Depp would say in Pirates of the Carribean…”You lucky bagger”
