Hey guys im using becker and im going to be taking FAR soon. I just finished the mcq for chapter 10. Gearty said there was a chance you might get a couple derivative mcq on the actual test but didn’t mention anything about sims. I was surprised to see the practice sims were pretty much all on financial instruments. I’m tight for study time and don’t know if i should focus on these or skip them. What do you guys suggest? Has anyone ever received a sim on derivatives?

@Kim, sorry, you are correct. How about this, has anyone ever “dreamed” about derivatives on the exam lol

Heh. The only time I didn't get a derivatives related SIM was on the FAR exam… go figure…

….but who knows you could get a derivative SIM.. it's just the luck of the draw. You can't really make any inferences from anyone that has taken the exam because everyone's exam is different.

I hope not. I was reviewing chapter 10 last night. I took FAR before and had a few mc's from that chapter. It's definitely not a chapter to ignore. At least be comfortable with it.

I'm going to start reviewing chapters 8 and 9 tonight. That is a GUARANTEED 16-20% of your exam. Derivates are not. My point, focus on what's likely to be tested.

P.S. And hope it's not derivates. Gearty even said no one really understands them. So they should just touch on the basics.
