    Hello Everyone:

I have taken this exam multiple times. The closest I’ve came is a 61. I have been studying for months now. However, my final month of studying has me on the edge for some reason. Not sure why. Its nerves etc. it could be anything, ugh.

I have switched from Becker to Yaegar, so I think thats a step in the right direction.

I am having a hard time focusing on the material. I switch from topic to topic. Could that be problematic?

Any tips on how I can be more organized so that I cover all the necessary information to pass?

If you are taking FAR next month please respond. I really need a supportive base. My multiple failure has left me demotivated.

    – Thanks Much.

I think the most important thing – READ THE BOOK! All of it! And do not move forward until you understand EVERY SINGLE CONCEPT and able to apply it (that's where MCQ come handy). That's all. Easy. Doable. Good luck!

    AUD - 90
    FAR - 83
    BEC - 81
    REG - 80
    ETHICS - 100

The Yaeger videos can be a good resource as well. My experience is that the lectures cover enough material to handle the multiple choice questions. I would go through the Yaeger videos slowly and take notes while pausing the video. Using Topsya's approach of not moving forward until you understand the topic is a good one. I would just use the videos instead of the book(since you paid for them) to get a big picture approach and then use the multiple choice questions and simulations to fill in the details. I also found that the Becker questions better prepared me for FAR than the wiley test bank which i spent some time on.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

That works too! I'm just trying to cover all the bases here! lol

I've seen all the Yeager videos multiple times, I usually download them on my phone, and listen to them in my car during my commute to and from work… it helped me tremendously!

Honestly, as long as you UNDERSTAND all the concepts – you'll be fine. Just my 2 cents

    AUD - 90
    FAR - 83
    BEC - 81
    REG - 80
    ETHICS - 100

Topsya I read the book similar to how you mentioned, and that is how I will prepare for most of my other exams. I am just assuming since he said the Yaeger program(a video based program) was a step in the right direction that he has found he learned better from that type of format, plus the Yaeger program isn't cheap. I am definitely with you about just getting all the concepts down.

Don't be afraid to watch the harder lectures more than once. Don't just “get through the material.” Understand it!! Write down journal entries like it's nobodies business!! Don't be afraid to call Cindy/Phil and ask questions. I spoke to Phil a few different times. He gave me his personal cell and called me when I was available. He quizzed me on different topics and ended up giving me the FAR cram for free (already using his other material). He gave me key tips and advice on particular subjects that was priceless. Passed on the 1st try and never looked back. Stick to it and you will conquer this exam!! Good luck!!

Don't give up! FAR is nuts! I passed it two months ago. On the one hand I passed it my first try, on the other – I spent a year studying. I used and liked Yaeger, but you should only review the videos on topics you're stuck on, IMO. Assuming you watched them all already. Hopefully you have good notes, constant review of notes and constant mcq's. I skipped practicing mcq's on a couple of the tiny sections, like personal fin. stmts. I had just about an average of 75 on the Wiley test bank, only skipped about 30 of the over 1,400 mcq's. And passed. It is much easier studying for AUD now that FAR is behind me. I don't mind plugging Jeff's products either, I use the audio, notes and flashcards and I think they really help add some points. Don't forget test taking skills either, sticking to your time limit and going strongest to weakest on sims, etc. Every point makes the difference.
