so ive been studying for FAR which is my first section since late july and im less than halfway through the material in cpaexcel. since theres no testing dates in december, i was hoping to take it in the end of november, in case i fail, i can retake it in january. whereas, if i waited till january and failed, i would have to wait till april to retake it. should i stick with november even if i don’t feel prepared. i dont really mind paying additional fee for retaking it. i also work full time so i think 4 months should be long enough, some say 6-8 weeks is best

Since money is not matter for you, you should take it at November. If you fail, take it in January again.

Don't skip the testing window. Even if you fails the November FAR, you already get some ideas of what questions/TBS are on the exam.

I've passed 3 exams (including FAR) so here's my 2 cents. I'm of the opinion that condensing your study time into as short of a time period as possible is the most effective method. I'd rather spend 100 hours in one month than 150 hours over three months. Setting an earlier date also forces you to stick to your study regimen. I studied twice as long for REG as FAR and got a higher score on FAR. I think spreading your study time over a long period removes the sense of urgency and it becomes way easier to slack off because you have more time on your hands. For REG, not only did I start forgetting things, I also would put off lessons to the next day that I could very easily have completed that night.

Even working full-time, I think 5 months on FAR is wayyyy too much. Some people like more time though, different methods work for different people
