Does any one have experience with this program? I really like the idea of the smaller lectures.

If you used this. What course did you use?

Hey, @zooyuka, at the risk of being harsh, I am not happy with CPAExcel at all. I got the Gold Medal course which comes with everything. I feel like it's been a waste of money.

I have used it for FAR & AUD. I originally liked the idea of the bite-sized lessons but they make it very easy to miss the forest-for-the-trees. I ended up getting the Wiley books also. I prefer them because at least you can get a bigger picture view (i.e., 10 big lessons instead of 500 little ones).

Also I feel the lecture format is deceiving. It's appealing because it makes learning seem easy however it's nowhere near as helpful as working problems. I probably spent a good 50 hrs+ listening to the FAR lectures & writing notes which I now feel was totally wasted. Also, I've been concerned that the CPAExcel questions aren't up to the difficulty of the actual exam. The questions in the WIley books are definitely tougher.

I know alot of people are perfectly happy w/ it but that's my 2 cents. From here on out, I'm using the Wiley books. Also got the NINJA notes for REG.

    B - 8/30/12, 91
    A - 5/25/12, 87
    R - 7/28/12, 82
    F - 4/18/12, 84

I've used both. I think CPAexcel & Wiley is a good combination. The bite-sized lessons help to a point, as it tends to get overwhelming when you see the enormity of how many lessons you've done versus what you still have to do. But it does help to keep you on track. Honestly, I think Wiley is all you need. I'd rather have too much detail than not enough. But more importantly, it depends on how you are the most efficient at studying. If you can study just from reading a book and cranking out the practice questions, Wiley wins.

My opinion is mixed, coming down on the positive side.

I like the bite-sized pieces. I feel that the study text is necessary because it contains a lot more information than the lectures. The lectures are good for going over review questions.

I thought the REG questions were right on, and the BEC questions more obscure. I used Wiley for both, and felt that REG was comparable, and BEC was easier.

I did buy the Wiley BEC book. I don't know that it is a CPAExcel problem, but rather the hard time I had with the BEC material.

So far, FAR seems pretty decent. I don't have the Wiley Test Bank yet, so I can't compare.

I recommend the NINJA notes and Wiley Test Bank whichever option you end up choosing.

    BEC - 82

I used CPAexcel & Wiley for AUD. I thought CPAexcel prepared me well enough but Wiley really helped me realize what areas I needed to focus on. I like the schedule it keeps you on but the lectures don't hold your hand as much as I think Becker does.

If $ is not an issue or you got a offer, get Becker

If $ is tight but not too bad get CPAexcel

If $ is very tight get the Wiley stuff

    If you're lazy get Becker

If you're motivated and study efficiently get Wiley

    AUD Pass
    REG Fail, Rematch TBA
    FAR 11/26 Certain I failed
    BEC ?

    Becker

I tried getting through the material of cpaexcel but ended buying the gleim far and dropping cpaexcel. I do still use the videos from cpaexcel when I need a quick brush up though or more questions on a certain topic. If your looking to get a good base on the material first gleim worked great for me. Get the book and answer bank. It's all you need.

Your experience may vary by section. I know for REG, I used Becker twice, studied my brains out and got a 71 twice. The third time, I supplemented with the Wiley test bank and CPAexcel and received a 84. I personal think that Becker creates a good foundation and CPAexcel filled in more of the details.

    Best!
