gr8daneMemberAnyone studying for their last exam experiencing this? I found out that I passed Reg last week after being sure that I failed. I want to take FAR (my last exam) in the beginning of May but have lost all motivation. I wish I could go back in time and kick my ass for saving the hardest exam for last.
BEC - 78
AUD - 91
REG - 80
FAR - Nov 26th 75 I'M DONE!!!

Texas27MemberI feel like after each exam it is progressively getting worse which is a bad thing! When I started studying for BEC I was really motivated, then after BEC I lost a little motivation for audit but still managed to get a decent score, now I'm studying for FAR and it has become worse than it was with audit and this is only my third test and it has the most information!
BEC - Feb 2012: 80
AUD - Feb 2012: 84
FAR - Apr 2012: 78
REG - May 2012: 90Thanks Becker!

WitchkizzleParticipantI felt that same way. The evolution of my scores tells the tale. I was pretty motivated for BEC (15-20 hours a week studying or so) and then it started dropping off and as a result I was progressively worse on my exams. I don't know if there is anything you can do to help that feeling. By the time I got to AUD and REG I was studying maybe 4-5 hours a week and supplementing my study materials with a decent amount of alcohol (which explains my AUD score!!). I was just thinking I should save REG for the end since I currently work in the Tax department of a mid size firm and it payed off. Im not sure how I would have tackled FAR as my last test!
Good luck though!! If you can fight through that feeling, you will be done in no time!

R. BakerParticipantI went through that when I started studying for my final section (REG). I had so much motivation for the first three sections then when it was time to start REG, WHAM I no longer cared and just wanted to rush through videos to get it over with without caring about whether I actually understood the material.
I decided to push my exam back and take 2 weeks off to recharge, which seemed to help regain some of my motivation (though I still didn't have as much as I did before).
Hang in there guys, you'll get through this.

PeanutParticipantYes! Me me!! I'm on exam #10 🙁 FML! I started to get senioritis last attempt at AUD. This sounds funny but I'm hoping working full time will give me the motivation. Since I won't be exerting all of my energy every second into studying. I'm thinking/hoping I'll have more quality hours that way…
AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58March 13, 2012 at 7:15 pm #331364
kandisjoyParticipant@Peanut – When do you start working? Will you be traveling?
@gr8dane – FAR isn't the most difficult exam anymore, according to the cumulative passing rates released by the AICPA for 2011. REG takes the cake! I took FAR as my first exam because back in 2010, it WAS the most difficult (according to most people). REG was my last exam, and what a nightmare it was! Took me three attempts, whereas all of the other sections took me two attempts. So think of it this way – with REG out of the way, you're over your most difficult hurdle! 🙂
Cumulative pass rates for 2011:
AUD 45.62%
BEC 47.13%
FAR 45.57%
REG 44.22%
FAR: 71, 77
BEC: 70, 82
AUD: 62, 78

AnonymousInactive@kandisjoy…are you serious? I think FAR is brutal. I haven't started REG yet. what makes REG more difficult than FAR? thanks.

PeanutParticipant@kandisjoy, I start working next Monday. Which is great because I'm going to go hard this whole week and finish Becker (or at least most of Becker). I won't be traveling. It's a temp job, I'll be a senior accountant. The engagement is only 3-4 months which is prefect because I start with a Big4 beginning of September. I took my first 3 exams while working, BEC 58, REG 59 & 60. I wasn't quite in the swing of things. Now that I “know” how to handle these beast, I think I will be fine working full time & studying. When I was doing both before I really didn't have any idea wth I was doing, I got in a TON of hours but none of them were quality hours.
@gr8dane, I agree with kandis, if you can defeat REG, you can defeat ANY of these exams!
AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58March 13, 2012 at 8:05 pm #331367

Kayla86MemberTotally experienced it. Heck, after passing my first two I was feeling it, probably why it took me a year to pass my 3rd!
I just got my Ethics Exam material in the mail a few days ago and I have zero motivation to open it. It sounds so boring and awful and I just want to be done.
Plus, I live in MN and it's going to be in the 70s the rest of the week (very warm for early/mid March) and I sure don't want to be sitting inside taking an ethics exam.
I have felt SO lazy after finding out I passed my last part!
AUD - 73, 82 7/2010
REG - 79 7/2010
BEC - 72, 74, 78 7/2011
FAR - 66, 83 1/2012 - AND I'M DONE! Best feeling ever.MN Licensed CPA as of 5/18/12!

kandisjoyParticipant@CPA-Convertible – In 2011, they added Ethics and Responsibilities and Business Structure information to REG, but didn't take any material out of the exam (these were moved from BEC). The amount of time for the exam stayed the same.
I found REG to be difficult because I really hated studying agency law (especially contracts) and taxes. Also there's just a ton of material. I liked FAR more because a lot of it was math based, which I can sometimes figure out, even if I haven't seen the question before. With REG, you either know it or you don't. There is very little room for just figuring it out. You have to memorize a lot of little rules and laws. Not my cup of tea! I'm not saying FAR was easy, because it definitely wasn't!!! But I found REG to be more difficult.
I bet you could easily find 4 people on this forum that would say that a different section of the exam was more difficult for them. It's all subjective and based on who you are and what kind of experience/knowledge you already have. I'm not trying to freak anyone out here. Just stating a fact – REG had lower pass rates than FAR did in 2011. Maybe that will change in 2012. 🙂
@Peanut – Sounds like you've got a good plan! Good luck at your new job, I hope that you enjoy public accounting. Let me know. I had a terrible experience with public accounting, but I think that it's probably like any job; your experience will most likely depend on your company, the people you worth with, and your boss.
