Hi, I’m new to the boards here, and I have been struggling with the CPA so far. I’ve taken every section of the exam at least once (FAR & BEC twice) and I’ve failed each time. Unfortunately, I am an absolutely abysmal studier, so I have nothing to blame but my lazy self. I’ve been using Becker on my own to review, but I can honestly say I haven’t done a good job until this past month or so. I’m taking BEC again tomorrow, and I really did my best to buckle down this time. I just hope it has been enough.

Anyways, my real question here is: Is anything changing for the the CPA exam in 2012? I just registered to sit for FAR on 1/26/12, and I immediately noticed that the exam time has jumped from 4 hours to 4.5 hours. I tried looking for information on this board, and I tried Google but I haven’t found anything. Should I be worried that my 2011 Becker software is out of date for FAR (and AUD and REG, for that matter)?

Well, after speaking with NASBA, apparently there aren't any major changes to any sections in 2012. The extra half hour was added to FAR for “break time, survey time at the end, etc.”

But I guess this must have been common knowledge that I just missed, because it seems like it was a dumb question in retrospect. Oh well.

Yeah – if I remember correctly, if you have a 3 hour REG exam – your appointment is for 3.5 hours, etc.
