    Hey guys,

I got into a school career fair via a friend recently and it is in 3 days! It is exclusively an Accounting career fair.

    How should I prepare?

Here is a link on how to prepare for Meet the Firms from RogerCPA.

    Good luck!

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

    Thanks for the response.

Just curious, how many people do you think get hired in this event?

It seems to me (I went to one last year) only 10 or so get hired out of 200 people.

    Is that pretty common?

Hey testsz, I remember posting on your thread a few weeks ago about our journey on finding a job. You mentioned you went to UCR. Where is the career fair. Im not far from there. Is there a way I could get in too?

This isn't a preparation tip, so much as an approach tip:

When you get there, walk around the room once and just see who is there before you start talking to anyone. Pick a few of the places where you *don't* want to work and start by talking to them. This will give you a chance to warm up talking about yourself and asking questions. If you're awkward at first, it doesn't matter, because you don't want to work for them anyway. Then, once you've warmed up and are starting to feel comfortable, you'll be ready to start talking to the places you do want to work. Also, I'm pretty sure (at least at my school) that *no one* is hired at one of these things. It's just an opportunity to meet people and get some contacts so they'll know who you are at on campus interviews.

    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

In addition to what sarah210 said:

    1. Wear a suit. Doesn't have to be a $500 suit, but it does have to fit you properly (jacket isn't too poofy, pants aren't too short, etc)

    2. Wear a pressed/ironed dress shirt.

    3. Wear a solid color tie that matches the shirt/suit

    4. Wear matching color dress shoes and make sure they are clean. Do not wear black tennis shoes as a lot of people do. Those are just ugly in any situation.

    5. Wear a matching color leather belt.

    6. Update your resume, make it look clean and professional and bring 10 copies at least.

    7. If you can, get there as early as possible since lines can start forming at the more popular firms.

    8. Practice talking to yourself in a mirror with general answers about what your education/work experience/history are, your goals, etc.

    9. Have a couple questions ready to ask the recruiter to show that you are interested.

    10. Relax and be yourself. Realize that the recruiters are people too, just like you and me. They were once in your shoes as well so they know how grueling the whole recruiting process is.

, pressed/ironed dress shirt, solid color matching tie, pants that are long enough, nice dress shoes (polished and not dirty)

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86
    BEC: 86
    REG: 84! Officially Done!

    Will do.

It is hosted at my university and for some reason they weren't allowing alumnis in. I got in through a friend (using his ID lol). They usually don't check the ID and just want to make sure you have the ID you RSVPed with.

I am an alumni and can't participate in OCI Program. Is this event still a viable opportunity for me to get recruited?

Let us know how it goes. Hopefully you can get in touch with some recruiters. Let them know your situation and see what they say.

Hey guys. Had the career fair last night and I felt it went okay. There were about 16 employers with over 120 students. A lot of the times I was struggling to get face time with an employer due to time constraints and huge lines. In fact, a few employers talked to 8 students at the same time; however, I felt like I “stood” out in a sense because I asked some interesting questions other students did not (such as how one organization wants to expand to Northern California via a merger).

How should I follow up with the people who gave me business cards? Should I e-mail them or write them a card?

you first should email them and waiting for their reply and after this you should go for a call
