Hi guys, I have question. I am scheduled to take FAR on February 28th, but I haven’t even started studying. The reason being is my NTS expires April 1st and I was hoping to re-schedule for that date. Except now I just realized that April 1st is a Sunday and apparently you cannot sit for the exam on Sunday. What happens if I cancel my appointment now? I know I will get a charged a $35 fee, but will I also forfeit my exam fees because my NTS will have expired?

What would you guys recommend I do at this point? I don’t think there is any way I can pass the exam after studying for one month. Am I essentially screwed?

@ Steven K. – I am not sure what state you are in but in texas, Prometric test on Sundays. If your Prometric does nto test on Sunday. I would say to go ahead and take the exam on 02/28. You never know, there could be a PASS and if not you will at least have that experience of what could appear on the exam. I wouldn't just loose my money(exam fee) by not taking it though.

Sadly I'm not in Texas 🙁

Just my luck that the 1st happens to be a Sunday… ugh. Guess I will give it a go but I just can't see myself passing it with so little study time

@Steven K., some prometric centers are open on Sundays. You just need to hunt around and be willing to drive farther to find one! Or you could just go hard these next few weeks!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Like everyone said, I would try to look for centers open on Sundays. If you can't, then just take the exam anyways because there are no refunds. Use it or lose it. Who knows, you might pass!

Just take it. The extra month probably wouldn't have helped you. Let's be realistic here, the NTS last 6 months? You scheduled it for Feb. 28 and haven't even started studying yet. That would mean you either slacked off so your chances are you would probably slack off with the extra month. Or your schedule is extremely busy which could mean that it would stay busy through March and you still wouldn't have the time to study. You've got 26 days so get crackin.

Not sure what you're talking about. I took my BEC exam on a Sunday….

And unless you remember a lot from college courses, studying for FAR in less than a month is extremely hard. IFRS vs. GAAP, Pensions, Leases, Gov't Accounting, NFP Accounting, Bonds, Intercompany transactions, Partnership Accounting, Statement of Cash Flows….. yup, you better get cracking NOW!!!!!!!

Actually, I scheduled two exams for the 6 months and I just retook REG January 19th. I failed REG the first time and didn't want to start studying for a different section until I passed it. So basically I'll be taking 3 exams in that 6 month period. In hindsight I should have registered for one exam at a time.

The problem is I know how my brain works already and unless I have time to process information it's just not going to stick. Some people can look something over once and remember it. I can't really do that

I will try to find one that's open on Sunday.

Hmm, I found a testing center about 17 miles away that I think tests on Sunday, but April 1st is not open 🙁

Just to be clear, I can still register on the day that my NTS expires, correct?

@Steven K., I think so? But sometimes if it's blacked out like that it means that your NTS does expire that day. You'll notice April 2nd and on will be blacked out when you type in your NTS

Well, some good news: I found one that has April 1st open, but it's nearly 70 miles away from where I live in a different state. Guess it's better than the alternative for now

I say get a motel the night before so you don't have to drive like crazy, all worried and such. Let them make breakfast for you and you can go peacefully into your sunday exam

Not a bad idea actually, but I think I'll be fine. It's scheduled for 10A.M., so if I leave by 7:30 I should get there early.

By the way, does it matter if I take it in a different state? I'm guessing no, right?

@Steven K., nope doesn't matter. A lot of people are registered under states that they do not live in (including me)

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
