Guys, I am halfway done with the exams and I applied to be a CPA in PA. Now I am moving to California and still have 2 exams. Can I apply for a new NTS in PA and then go take it in California and then transfer scores there?

YES YES YES. You can take the exam at any Prometric in the country. The score will go to the state in which you've applied to be a CPA.

I freaked out about this when I first started the exam. Live in Texas, but applying for a VA license.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

    VA CPA #42010

Yes, you can take the exams anywhere, regardless of which state you applied to. If you plan on transferring scores, make sure you read up on the process–don't want any surprises!

    CPA exam: Done!

    Thank You, Lord.

Yep Yep. Just chiming in as another example. My permanent residence is in NJ, I'm getting certified in PA, and taking the exams in CO where I'm attending school.

As everyone else said, yes you can. It would have sucked for me if you couldn't!! I'm taking the test through CT, but until end of November I lived in MA, so it was nice to be able to take the exam in MA. Now I live in CT but the closest Prometric is still in MA, so I'm still going to the same MA test center.

It's one of the only nice things about this whole process!!

I am a GA resident and take my exams in TN. That is the closet Prometric Center.
