why is the 22500 being multiplied by 34%.why isnt it 12500*.34 with the remaining 10000 being carried forward into the 39% bracket?

Not sure what your professor is trying to get at. The “our way” is the “IRS way”. Those brackets in the “IRS way” approach are not the corporate tax brackets. Also, you don't reach the 39% bracket until $100k is breached.
