Can I pass FAR w/out understanding bonds? - Page 3

5 days to go and I still don’t understand bonds. Hated them in college, hate them now, will forever hate them. Convertible bonds, detachable and nondetachable warrants, stated rate and market rate, premium vs discount, blah blah blah!!!

If I am comfortable in all other areas of FAR (maybe with the exception of diluted EPS), will I be okay going into this exam without understanding bonds?

Can anyone share any pointers on how to understand bonds? Also, how difficult are the real exam questions compared to Becker’s insanely worded bond MCQ’s?

    Thanks in advance!

    A - 84 (01/03/12)
    R - 81 (02/16/12)
    F - 82 (11/23/11)

    Thank you Jesus!

CPA Convertible, in your post the example that you gave the JE doesn't seem right. Wouldn't it be Dr: Cash 900, CR: Bond payable 1000, and CR: Discount on Bond payable 100… ??

@CPAConvertible, lol I know exactly what you mean. Don't remember much of any of the rest except FAR right now. Good luck on your REG

Thanks! I don't blame you, I'd take FAR over REG anyday. I saved FAR for the last, mostly because of the amount of material. Oh I don't even need that long, all it takes is to simply walk out of that testing center and its gone. Lol

@hardworker – My first language is also Spanish, there are many of us on this forum who's first language is not English; so don't hesitate to ask questions… I was raised in the U.S. and in Mexico as well, so I am fluent in both languages. There is a forum on A71 for Spanish speakers: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/foro-en-espanol/page/7

Post your questions there, Buena Suerte! 🙂
